Zoë Kravitz regrets overplucking her brows in her teens
With parents like Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, you would be inclined to think Zoë Kravitz came out of the womb cool; and even though that could very well be true, growing up she apparently wasn’t immune to participating in one of the less-forgiving beauty trends of the late ‘90s and early ‘00s – over-plucked brows.
In a recent interview with InStyle, when asked if she’d “escaped the curse of the very tweezed nineties brow”, Zoë admitted, “I did do that when I was about 15”.
“I did it myself. I did that to myself. [Laughs].”
“I did the full — you know when it's like a ball, and then an arch? And it's like, what is that? I did do that.”
Apparently, she learned her lesson pretty quickly thanks to her mum who hit the roof when she found out about Zoë’s brow blunder. “I came home, and my mom was so mad at me. She was so, so pissed, and she scared me so badly that I never touched my eyebrows again.”
And, thankfully, Zoë’s eyebrows lived to fight another day: “luckily they grew back. Because sometimes they don't.”
Thin brows weren’t the only trend Zoë was obsessed with in her teens; Zoë admitted she couldn’t get enough of MAC’s Lipglass. “Remember Lipglass? MAC's Lipglass. I was very into that when I was like 15.” (Honestly, who wasn’t?).
Zoë has proven her choice in lip colour is still on point with the upcoming launch of her limited-edition lipstick collection in collaboration with YSL, which includes six shades inspired by people who have meant something to her throughout her life. The lipsticks are also intended to flatter all skin tones.
The collection is set to launch in September and judging by the sneak peeks we’ve seen on Zoë’s and YSL Beauty’s Instagram, we’ll be adding ourselves to the wait list for this one.
This isn’t the only exciting celeb collab to come from YSL this year. Dua Lipa had a hand in choosing the brand’s latest feminine fragrance.
