The product

Picture this: you're finishing off your matte makeup look with a coating of deep, dry matte lipstick. Yep, we can feel our lips cracking at the very thought of those formulas. Which TBH, is why when it comes to matte lipsticks we've steered clear for years; the trauma is just too real.

That was of course, until this ultra-cute offering from Maybelline New York turned up. Packaged in a totally adorable pillow-esque tube, the soft matte formula is nothing like that of days gone by; in fact, it's way better. The lip-loving product in question? Maybelline New York Superstay Teddy Tint.

Yep, it's as soft as your fave teddy (that's definitely not still on your bed). The formula has been enriched with bouncy polymers (for seriously juicy lips) and blurring powders, giving you a totally buildable (and completely transfer-proof) lipstick.

The lightweight formula, has improved on the original Superstay technology to even offer lip-to-cheek potential. In other words, it's the one stop shop for a major pop of colour.

BEAUTYcrew sent the Maybelline New York Superstay Teddy Tint to a panel of 18-45 year old lipstick-loving women.

The lowdown

The extensive shade range: If you've ever come across a lipstick formula that you just love, you know the deep desire to add every single shade to your collection. Thankfully the Teddy Tint comes in eight lip-loving, skin tone-flattering shades. Our members loved the '90s-inspired shades (Keep It Cozy and Skinny Dip) they were able to try, and we're keen to test out more.

The way the formula can be worn multiple ways: Lip-to-cheek products are everywhere right now, but few manage to offer a seriously wide range of ways to wear the hard-hitting pigmentation. Our members were quick to note that the buildable formula offered multiple layers of luscious lip coverage (from blurred to bold) along with giving a glossy, lightweight coating of colour on their cheeks. Multi-functional is the name of this game.

The comfortable, long-wearing formula: If you remember the feeling of the ultra drying matte liquid lipsticks, you probably hear 'matte lipstick' and want to run for the hills. Thankfully, our members can assure you that this soft-matte formula is absolutely nothing like those. The liquid formula dries down to an un-budgeable-yet-comfortable lip-pillowing colour. Lip tint is usually a big miss for me as I find it peels off and leaves my lips looking flaky! I was pleasantly surprised by Teddy Tint, no flaking!! The colour lasted and there was no transfer when drinking etc I work in a job where I am talking all day and was amazed that the colour was still present after hours of talking and sipping on water. This was a big plus as I didn't have to constantly reapply throughout the day, the colour stayed looking fresh and there was no bleeding or transference to my teeth! It was wonderful to have a product I could pop on in the morning and not worry about. The colour was not my usual choice but I actually really liked it. I find tints are often very dry on my lips but this tint didn't leave my lips feeling dry or flaky at all. I would love to try some other shades. The packaging was really nice and the product was very easy to apply. It was a win for me.

It was love at first trial with the Maybelline New York Superstay Teddy Tint. The shade Keep It Cozy is absolute perfection for my tan complexion!! I love this tint on its own when I'm wearing minimal makeup (i.e. tinted sunscreen, brows & mascara) as it instantly brings some life to my complexion without being too heavy on the lips. Great for lowkey days, the park/beach, and ducking out to run errands. My favourite way of wearing this tint is actually as a layer on top of a mauvey-pink lippie base - it's the perfect MLBB colour for me and it's the lip combo I've been obsessed with wearing lately! I've also been impressed by how long-lasting this tint is. Even after eating/drinking, my lips still have a pretty, subtle shade, remaining comfortable on the lips the whole day. The tint is also easily buildable from a soft, blurred-like look on the lips to a more bold shade. The doe foot applicator is also a great size and plushness, helping the tint glide nicely over the lips. To top it off, the packaging of the Teddy Tint is super cute and trendy! I will absolutely be repurchasing the shade Keep It Cozy forevermore, I can no longer be without it! Highly recommend adding the Maybelline New York Superstay Teddy Tint to your kit!
