This will be the biggest skin care trend of 2017

From the most Googled beauty questions of 2016 to the most Googled skin care brands, the search engine has provided invaluable insight into the past, present and future beauty trends we need to be paying attention to. So when the company recently released its 2017 beauty trends report, the most searched skin care trend for the coming year was revealed.

Lo and behold, masking has taken out the top spot for the skin care trend that’s going to be huge this year. This isn’t a huge surprise, given the rise celebrity facemask selfies, the increasing range of mask types available, as well as all we’ve learn about the insane skin benefits from both professional and DIY mask treatments (if they’re done correctly, that is).

The handy report also provided some insight into what kind of masks are going to be big this year, and you can be guaranteed to see lots of charcoal around, which will be great for those looking to address common problems such as acne, blackheads, oily skin and hydration.

Other ingredients that are rising in popularity when it comes to masking include 24k gold, Aztec clay, carbonated bubble clay, Dead Sea mud and turmeric, so expect to see new beauty launches featuring those ingredients.

In terms of the kinds of masks that Google is predicting will be big, expect to see more peel-off masks and sheet masks.
