Blue eyeshadow is going to be summer’s biggest makeup trend
Here’s everything you need to know about wearing accent colours
We’re calling it: Blue eyeshadow is about to become summer’s biggest makeup trend and we couldn’t be happier about it. While we love a good ‘no makeup’ makeup look, a girl has to mix it up on occasion, and a pop of blue is everything we need right now.
Spotted on the New York Fashion Week Spring 2020 runway, and on the lids of pretty much every celeb (Sophie Turner, Lily Collins, Janelle Monáe and Rita Ora all recently rocked this colour on the red carpet), we know a trend when we see one.
The popular colour is fun, bright and undeniably striking, and it just so happens to flatter every skin tone under the sun. The best part? There are a million ways to wear it. Blue eyeshadow is trending in all different shades and finishes – from royal blue to retro mattes and intense electric pigments – so it’s super versatile and anything but boring.
For an easy everyday look, opt for a lighter pastel shade and blend it all over the lid so it looks soft and diffused. If you’re hitting the town and want to step it up a notch, go for a neon blue shade and wear it on the inner corners of your eyes for a playful pop of colour. If a bold eyeshadow look isn’t exactly your thing, you can use your accent blue eyeshadow as liner along your bottom lash line.
