The $15 hair oil responsible for Zendaya's shiny hair at the NAACP awards
The perfect blow-dry doesn’t need to break the bank
When Zendaya usually makes a red carpet appearance we spend hours going over her hair and makeup looks with a fine tooth comb.
She has delivered some of the best beauty looks we’ve ever seen on a red carpet. Heck, she even did her own makeup for the Oscars in 2022. The woman is seriously talented.
Zendaya finally graced the red carpet for the NAACP Awards yesterday, and while her makeup was flawless, all we could look at was her perfect blowout.
It was bouncy, silky, voluminous and soft.
Naturally we had to know how she achieved the look, and lucky for us, Zendaya’s hair stylist Tai Simon spilled the tea via Instagram after a few fans badgered her in the comments.
“Sissss we need a tutorial please,” begged one fan. “That hair was hairing,” said another.
Being the charitable human she is, Simon gave the full rundown of all the products she used on Zendaya’s Italian bob.
The hairstylist is clearly a big fan of supermarket brand OGX, as she used several of their products to style Zendaya’s hair — OGX Protecting + Silk Blowout Quick Drying Thermal Hair Spray ($59 at Amazon Australia), OGX Locking + Coconut Curls Decadent Creamy Mousse ($57 at Amazon Australia), and OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum ($11.69 at Amazon Australia) — just to name a few.
She also used the Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Styler ($32 at MECCA), Tangle Teezer Wide Tooth Comb Purple Passion ($30 at Pretty Little Thing), and one of the best hair dryers on the market — the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer ($549 at Dyson) — to get that bouncy, shiny finish.
The key to perfecting Zendaya’s hair will surprise you though.
When one fan asked Simon why she used mousse in Zendaya’s blowout, she confessed that she likes the way it adds volume to the hair. “[But] you have to add a little oil to prep the hair just right,” she responded.
Her weapon of choice? OGX Renewing + Hydrating & Shine Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Oil.
Normally, we’d pick up a bottle of the stuff from the supermarket in our weekly grocery shop (it’s $30 at Woolworths), but you can currently cop it for $14.99 at Chemist Warehouse. Score!
Is Zendaya’s bob making you wish you had shorter hair? This is how to tell if short hair will suit you.
