The former Bachelorette star lets us in on her secret weapon
This morning we spotted Ali Oetjen whipping up some kind of green smoothie on her Instagram Stories. And let’s be real, the chunky potion-like brew looked downright ominous.
But, since the 2018 The Bachelorette Australia star and wellness blogger seems to visibly radiate health, of course we wondered whether this could be her secret weapon.
We mean, have you seen her skin’s glow? The gal has got it going on.
Ali gave us an exclusive inside scoop on her go-to smoothie recipes and said that her must-have smoothie ingredients are “green leaf vegetables, carrot for sweetness, lemon and ginger”.
“[Smoothies] are a fast way to get all those veggies into your system and I always feel a burst of energy after I’ve consumed it,” she told us.
“I feel like it definitely gives me a good amount of fibre, plus getting all these nutrients and antioxidants all in one drink - it’s an all-over health benefit, I think!,” Ali says, adding that she feels her hair, skin, brain and immune system benefit from the green smoothies.
But even Ali admits that the smoothie doesn’t look super appealing. When she talks us through her recipe, she refers to the beverage as “Shrek-algae-water-muck”. Mmm, delicious!
But you know what, for a glow like Ali’s, we’ll give anything a whirl.
Ali shared the full details of her green smoothie recipe with us:
½ cup kale
½ cup spinach
Juice of ½ lemon
Knob of ginger
1 carrot
1/3 cucumber
300mL water
1 teaspoon spirulina
1 teaspoon green superfood powder
Ice
And after whipping one up, you might be amazed at the taste! Yes, there’s a lot of green veggies going on but the zesty lemon juice and ginger make it surprisingly delicious. Shall we drink to our health?
