This is what Mila Kunis looks like without makeup on
Plus, her beauty tricks for getting skin that’s good enough to go barefaced
Mila Kunis is no stranger to going makeup-free. She’s the rare type of celeb who’s not afraid to break away from the norm (she doesn’t even have Instagram!) and it’s almost more common to see Mila Kunis without makeup than it is with.
Mila’s love of minimal makeup really came into the spotlight when she graced the cover of Glamour magazine in 2016. Her bare face got everyone’s attention. She looked stunning and her approach to beauty was refreshing.
In her interview with the mag, the Bad Moms star said, "I don’t wear makeup. I don’t wash my hair every day. It’s not something that I associate with myself. I commend women who wake up 30, 40 minutes early to put on eyeliner. I think it’s beautiful. I'm just not that person.”
Unfortunately, Mila is pretty close-lipped about what beauty products she uses to get her skin looking so makeup-free worthy. But, we’ve managed to hunt down a couple of her top tricks. One of her biggest lessons is the importance of cleansing. “Wash your face before you go to bed. And double your pillowcases. I learned that early. That and change them regularly.” We’re not quite sure what doubling your pillowcase does, but the other two tips are definite winners for preventing breakouts.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar US, Mila explained why she doesn’t wear much makeup. “I don't wear makeup everyday. I think because I have to do it every day for work, when I don't work I get out of the shower [and] I don't do anything to it. It's nothing to do with not wanting to do it, or trying to prove a point. It's just not a necessity to me. For everyday, if I have a blemish, which I normally do, I'll cover that up if I have five extra minutes. I do really love mascara because I feel like it wakes you up a little bit and Chapstick. I'm also a big fan of contouring. I think contouring changes the whole face. Put on a little blush and a little contouring and call it a day.”
Talk about simple!
She also revealed her go-to mascara at the time: Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara.
As for her skin care, she revealed, “I like to keep it very simple. I wash my face twice a day regardless of how exhausted I am. I wash my face at night and I wash it in the morning with Panthenol cleanser. It's the simplest cleanser...I also use Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream.”
While Mila is regularly snapped makeup-free when out and about living her ‘normal’ life with husband Ashton Kutcher and their two children, when she’s doing press appearances or gracing the red carpet, she’s more likely to pop on a little makeup - but never anything OTT. Fun fact: Mila has had the same makeup artist, Tracey Levy, since she was 15 and working on That ‘70s Show! When Mila does actually wear makeup, the focus is often on her eyes alone, with little more than mascara and eyeliner, which work beautifully to highlight her the almond shape of her eyes. Another fun fact: Mila used to suffer from chronic iritis, which caused her to be blind in one eye and have two different coloured eyes!
