Olivia Munn’s reaction to her new perm is hilarious
And we’re sure every curly-haired girl can relate

It was only a few weeks ago that we wrote to inform you that Olivia Munn had swapped her naturally straight hair for a perm. The Newsroom actress opted for the famous ‘80s hairstyle as her hair was so thick and heavy she had a hard time boosting volume and body. It seems however, the grass was most certainly not greener on the other side as the realities of having curly hair have become all too real for Olivia.
In a series of stories posted to her Instagram, Olivia explains how the effort involved with managing her new ‘do has taken her by surprise. “Here’s the thing, I’ve had straight hair all my life and it’s pretty easy to manage. But with curly hair, you actually have to comb it, put product in it and now I just have this one big knot.”
As long-time members of the curly-haired gang, we welcome you Olivia – and wholeheartedly concur with your new-found struggles.
Styling and maintaining curly hair can be laborious, as it’s more prone to frizz and dryness, with both issues often joining forces to leave your hair looking more like Hagrid from Harry Potter rather than Sarah Jessica Parker’s circa Sex and the City.
Our top tip? One vital way to stay on top of your curly hair maintenance is to choose protecting and nourishing products specifically formulated for your curly hair type. Some of our favourite curly hair buys include Kérastase Discipline Cleansing Conditioner Curl Idéal, Bumble and bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel Oil and John Frieda Frizz Ease Unwind Curls Calming Créme.
For now, we wish nothing but luck and good fortune to Olivia and her lovely new – albeit higher maintenance – ’do and suggest she invest in a very good wide-toothed comb.
