The hair cuts and colours that are trending this autumn

The foliage isn't the only thing changing colour this season
Whether we like it or not, Autumn has well and truly arrived.
We've tried to get ahead of the inevitable slump we fall into every year when the weather cools down, by Marie Kondo-ing our skin care routines for autumn, and paring back our cosmetic collections for three months of no-makeup makeup looks.
But there's one aspect of our aesthetic transformation we're yet to address — the hair trends that are influencing upcoming appointments with our hair dresser. And before you ask: Yes, our wallets, and subsequently our hair, are still being affected by the cost of living crisis. So if you're still tempted to try Hailey Bieber's 'rich girl brunette' hair colour to cut back on appointments — we completely get it.
However, if you are in the market for a hair colour refresh or a new hair cut then keep scrolling, here Jaye Edwards (hair expert and founder of Edwards&Co and Jaye Haircare) is breaking down the best autumn hair trends to try in 2025.
The top 3 autumn hair colour trends of 2025
1/ Bronde Blends
"[At Edwards&Co] we're seeing many clients transition to richer tones, which add warmth and dimension to the hair amidst the colder weather, where hair often feels dull and dry," Edwards tells BEAUTYcrew
"This sparkly bronde can be completely customised to suit your features, [as well as] your hair type and texture," he explains.
2/ Cool-Toned Ash Brunette
Loved the rich girl brunette trend of yesteryear, but looking to update it slightly for a fresher feel? Ask your hair colourist for cool-toned ash brunette instead.
"Cool toned brunette is perfect for those who love the quiet luxury trend — it's timeless, rich and luxurious," says Edwards.
3/ Clean Girl Blonde
"This high contrast balayage has stunning dimension and brightness, but works with a more natural base with the face frame pop," Edwards says of the clean girl blonde trend. "This look is for blondes who want to spice their hair up for the season."
The top 3 autumn hair cut trends of 2025
1/ The '90s Claudia Schiffer Cut
"The Claudia Schiffer is a cut we've been getting a lot of bookings for," Edwards shares.
"I love this cut as it starts at the brow and gradually sweeps to the cheekbone, opening up the face and softening the features," he explains.
2/ The Gracie Abrams Micro Bob
"This micro bob is one of the best cuts to ask for if you're wanting a huge transformation," says the hair expert.
"It's a super sleek bob that you can style to create that chunky and flicked shape with lots of movement," he explains.
3/ Classic Long Layers
Long layers are a year round trend, but they're specifically well-suited for the colder seasons as they help to polish up your hair, ultimately refining your look, says Edwards.
"I love soft layering, as you can completely customise [it] to suit your facial features, hair length, and colour," he explains.

Perfecting your arches is also a great way to refine your appearance and frame your face — these are the brow trends to know in 2025 according to Anastasia Beverly Hills.
