Marianna Hewitt says this drugstore mascara is the "perfect daytime product"

Marianna Hewitt has a makeup recommendation. And no, it's not something from her own brand Summer Fridays, nor is it something she's being paid to spruik. It's a genuine recommendation for a product she actually uses. An increasingly rare occurrence nowadays. Jumping onto TikTok to share her latest discovery, Marianna claims to have found "literally the most perfect daytime product" in this $17 drugstore mascara. 

"I might be ageing myself here but my millennial girls probably know what this is," she said, holding up the iconic pink and green mascara wand to camera. Yep, it's none other than the Maybelline New York Great Lash Clear Mascara ($16.95, Amazon).

"I feel like growing up this packaging was so iconic to me and there is something like so nostalgic about it," Marianna continued, speaking of the mascara's clear variation which she recently picked up on Amazon.

What's the point of a clear mascara?

Well, according to Marianna, this transparent wand makes for the perfect lash product on days where "you don't want to wear a full mascara." Personally, we can't ever think of a moment such as this (two coats of your blackest tubing mascara please), but perhaps we're the odd ones out? 

"It just makes your lashes have definition, it's so nice," she said as she curled her lashes before applying the first coat. 

As for her TikTok followers? Consider them convinced. Particularly one commenter who wrote: "you could influence me to buy ice and I would. On my way to purchase". Blind support, we love to see it. 

Another wrote, "the first mascara my mum let me wear in the 5th grade. So nostalgic". And "this brings back memories".

If you're like us, you might need a little more than a transparent gel to open and lift your eyes. However, when paired alongside a lash lift and tint, we think this non-pigmented mascara could create the perfect finisher for a fresh no-makeup makeup look.
