Roxy Jacenko has shown us the new cool-girl way to wear bows
Consider this your Splendour inspo
Consider this your Splendour inspo
It’s no secret that bows have been #trending in a big way on the hair front the last few months. We’ve been fully on board with this super-pretty, preppy trend that takes us back to our school days when we all wanted to be Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl.
But now entrepreneur and PR queen Roxy Jacenko has shown us a new cool-girl way to rock bows and let’s cut to the chase: we’re VERY into it.
Is that serious festival hair inspo, or what?
The bows in Roxy’s hair are from her seven-year-old daughter Pixie Curtis’ Pixies Bows range, and the hairstylist behind the look, Shannon James Julian Williams, gave us the exclusive inside scoop on the braided style.
“The inspiration was Coachella vibes. I wanted to create epic festival hair, so of course I used Pixies Bows and created… different braids to achieve Instagram-worthy festival hair.”
And if you’d like recreate the look yourself (Splendour in the Grass, anyone?), Williams has some tips.
“Make sure the hair has grit to create a dusty texture feel. I love using hair chalk which creates the perfect canvas when I’m trying to create festival hair.”
To create some serious grit in the hair, Williams recommends trying Natalie Anne Haircare NA-S2 Undone Perfection Dry Texturising Powder or Natalie Anne Haircare NA-S1 New Heights Dry Volumising Powder. We also like Hair By Sam McKnight Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist and L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Super Dust.
With a slew of international and Australian festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, Byron Bay Bluesfest and Splendour just around the corner, this hair inspo couldn’t have come at a better time.
