PSA: This nostalgic hair trend is back in a big way

While we’re still enjoying the return of the beloved scrunchie and the claw clip, we’ve spotted a new (yet very familiar!) must-have hair accessory getting around town: Bows.

Back in September at London Fashion Week, the Emilia Wickstead runway served up some serious bow action, with models showing off sleek ponytails decked out with giant red and black bows. Some models even doubled-up on the bows with one up top and one secured mid-way through their ponytail.

And now, the bow epidemic is swarming celebville. In the space of just a few days, Kate Middleton, Margot Robbie AND Mandy Moore have all showed off gorgeous hairstyles adorned with beautiful velvet bows, proving to us that bows are the ‘in’ thing this season.

While visiting a Neuroscience Lab in London this week, The Duchess of Cambridge showed off a stunning ponytail, parted slightly off-centre and curled at the ends. And what’s that we spy? A super cute black velvet bow! It looks both parts chic and elegant and pulls her whole look together seamlessly.

The second A-lister to have us wanting to try a bow is Margot Robbie, who attended the press conference for her new movie Mary Queen of Scots looking like an absolute VISION. The actress wore her blonde lob in a half-up half-down hairstyle, pinned back with an oversized black velvet bow. Pretty and polished.

Which brings us on to the third bow-embracing celeb, Mandy Moore.

The star shared a snap of her stunning beauty look for the Vanity Fair Fall TV Party on Instagram and she looks like utter perfection. Similar to Margot, Mandy wore her brunette hair in a half-up half-down hairstyle (although much sleeker), securing it at the back with the prettiest bow we’ve ever laid eyes on. Those pearls!

We’re seriously loving the return of this hair accessory. It’s hands-down the easiest and most fuss-free way to dress up your tresses. Whether you have your hair in a half-up half-down style like Margot and Mandy, or a basic low ponytail like Kate, a simple bow can make you look more glamorous without having to put in any actual effort.
