We're crowning Cooper Koch the king of red carpet skin prep
Nominated for (and glowing like) a Golden Globe = impressive
If you went through the harrowing experience of sitting down to watch Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, then it’s highly likely that the mere sight of Cooper Koch’s face makes you want to cry. There’s a reason his powerful performance as Erik, the younger of the two Menendez brothers, is deservedly Golden Globe-nominated.
However, if you were to take a minute to really assess Koch’s face, you might find yourself either continuing to cry out of jealousy or trying to use your tears as a dewy-finish highlighter of sorts. The glow is enviable, undeniable, and surprisingly potentially achievable if you take a few skin prep steps out of Koch’s book.
The actor’s incredible grooming artist Miho Suzuki shared the secrets behind Koch’s luminous skin, and we’ll be slathering on the products involved pronto in the hope of replicating his level of red carpet-ready radiance…
Cooper Koch skin prep
As people of great taste, Koch and Suzuki are evidently both big fans of Giorgio Armani when it comes to skin prep products, with the brand being used across the board for prep and base. Here are the exact steps Suzuki relied on to prep Koch’s complexion...
First, Suzuki applied Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Reviscentalis Mets Concentrate ($665 at Myer) onto fresh skin, before allowing both the Crema Nera Supreme Reviving Cream ($365 at Myer) and Crema Nera Firming Meta Eye Treatment ($310 at Myer) to both sink in for about 20 minutes while she styled Koch’s hair.
After wiping off any excess eye cream, Suzuki applied the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer ($85 at Myer) all over the face, following with a bespoke base crafted from a mix of the Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Foundation in Shade ‘7’ ($115 at Myer) and the Crema Nera moisturiser used earlier. As for the ratios? Suzuki shared via Instagram that she recommends “50/50 amount of each products” as “this will make perfect sheer wash of foundation that even the complexion.”
To enhance luminosity, Suzuki created the same mix of moisturiser and foundation before combining it with one pump of Sheer Fluid Glow Enhancer in Shade ‘2’ ($69 at Myer), taking the resulting combination above Koch's cheekbones, onto the nose, and down the centre of the forehead. Suzuki followed with the rest of the foundation, massaging into skin with a sponge to achieve the flawless finish.
Next came a “small dot” of Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Concealer in Shade ‘6’ ($75 at Myer), applied to areas such as under Koch’s eyes and blended with soft patting motions. And to lock everything in and add extra glow, Suzuki finished with a sweep of Luminous Silk Glow Fusion Powder in Shade ‘5.5’ ($145 at Myer) and the Luminous Silk Bronzing Powder in Shade ‘90’ ($135 at Myer) along cheekbones for a soft, warm sculpt.
