Abbie Chatfield just shared some totally unfiltered bikini snaps and she’s got a compelling reason for why you should do the same
“Let’s make our authentic selves the norm”
In today’s social media crazed-world, scrolling through a never-ending Instagram feed of seemingly perfect faces and bodies can without a doubt take a toll on one’s mental health.

Further exacerbating the problem is the fact that photo editing apps and beautifying filters have become so advanced that it can be almost impossible to tell when a photo has been edited. And in turn, it’s very difficult to distinguish between what’s real life, and what’s not.
Plus, the popularity of these apps and filters has surged way out of control over the last few years – everyone seems to be using them and edited photos are everywhere.
However, a new hashtag trend that aims to promote realness has started taking off on Instagram. #AsShels challenges Instagram users to post unfiltered snaps of themselves along with captions geared towards bringing perspective back to Instagram.
Former The Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield has been one of the first celebs to jump on board the movement and has already taken to Instagram to share some unfiltered bikini snaps of herself along with a very compelling message:
“Today I am taking part in the #AsShels Campaign. For as long as I can remember, I have been insecure about myself in one way or another. Since getting social media from around age 13, the need for filters and editing has only increased, now resulting in us feeling uncomfortable seeing ourselves without an edit from an app,” Abbie wrote.
“Here are some unfiltered, unedited photos of me at the beach, not posing, having a laugh with my friends because this bloody hat wouldn’t stay on my head longer than one minute. Join me and upload an unedited, unfiltered photo of yourself, and let’s make our authentic selves the norm.”
Well done, Abbie! We couldn’t be more on board with this powerful message. It’s terrifying that edited, perfected photos really have become more common than authentic straight-out-of-the-camera snaps. The world needs more authentic role models like you.
This isn’t the first time Abbie has spoken out on the importance of body positivity. Check out her powerful message for body-shamers.
