Yep, the rumours are all true: 2025's hottest hair trends have officially been locked in. And they’re even better than we expected.

So if you’re wondering why we’re ushering out the era of curtain bangs, how to navigate a return to your natural-ish colour, or where to look for celeb style inspo, you’ve come to the exact right place. BEAUTYcrew caught up with Nik Goutziotis of Amos Hair to find out what's bound to be big (and then immediately got the salon on the phone to lock in an appointment because we refuse to be left behind).

Here are the trending cuts, colours and styles set to take over in 2025…

Hair Colour Trends 2025

Dimensional 'brown-burn'

Garnet, scarlet and copper may have all had major moments in 2024, but for 2025, we're seeing a switch to a hybrid between red and brunette. Think rich, glossy, deliciously dimensional 'brown-burn' colour (AKA a blend of brown and auburn). “In addition to sun-kissed blondes, warm copper-based colours will be phased out and transition to a more soft, dimensional auburn-brunette colour or similar to an espresso brown, like Zendaya and Rihanna", Goutziotis confirms.

Barely there balayage

There's a reason Taylor Swift's hair colour looked incredible at every Eras Tour stop - her soft balayage blend is not only stunning, but also incredibly low-maintenance. “Barely there balayage with minimal highlights will have a moment, which will mean maintenance and frequency of salon appointments are reduced. Most recent celebrities showcasing this trend are Taylor Swift trading her iconic [bright] blonde for an ashy blonde [more true to her natural colour]" Goutziotis notes of Swift's shade switch-up. "Ask your stylist for a soft balayage [to replicate the look]."

Natural colour

It could be time to make a triumphant return to your natural shade for the year ahead. “Natural hair will be the trending theme for 2025, with people going back to their roots and looking after their hair health", Goutziotis explains. "This will be the year of repairing any damage/breakage from highlighting or styling with invasive products. The trend will be well received as a complement to the everyday woman, who will feel fresh and stylish. [Think along the lines of] Hailey Bieber [swapping from her] signature sun-kissed highlights to a new rich, chocolate brown [in line with her natural tone]."

Hair Cut Trends 2024

'70s layers

Layers (of the nostalgic kind) are in! “Long, '70s-inspired layers will also return, which create a timeless look that still adds movement and body", Goutziotis shares. "This is an ideal request for those who love long hair but need something manageable with texture. Celebrities such as Jennnifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski are often seen to wear this glamorous, flowy style of hair.” Chic!

Full fringes

Now we know this one is going to sting a little (especially if you, like us, have been working up the courage to replicate Sabrina Carpenter's sweeping curtain bangs), but Goutziotis says they're being replaced in the 'trending' arena by a more full-fledged front fringe. “Curtain bangs will be long gone and replaced with the comeback of fringes", he explains.

The blunt bob

Bobs have been trending for a decade now, but we're seeing a return to sharp, sleek, short styles for 2025. “This will be the year of the bob – whether it be undone, blunt, layered, jawline or micro bobs", Goutziotis says. "For structure, a stronger blunt bob with polished ends that falls around the jaw or longer. This look is all about sharp lines and sleekness and is frequently worn by celebrities like Lily Collins and Hailey Bieber.”

Textured pixies

Bobs aren't the only short chop trending, either. “Textured pixie cuts will also become popular, with a short cut that still maintains volume and movement with textured layers", Goutziotis notes. "Celebrities like Kirsten Dunst and Tessa Thompson have recently sported these looks, giving a lived-in, messy vibe.”

Hair Style Trends 2025

'90s blowouts

Don't worry; you can still follow Sabrina Carpenter's lead in the blowout arena. “Ask for a 90s-style blowout with flicky ends or big, voluminous ponytails styled with hair extensions or clever backcombing to add body. [We're all going to be] taking inspiration from Sabrina Carpenter’s big blow-dry with natural texture", Goutziotis confirms.

Textured updos

As for updos, the more undone, the better. “Messy textured updos are also predicted to become popular, combining elegance with an effortless look. Celebrities who frequently showcase this look are Blake Lively and Jessica Alba, it is an easy one to elevate a nighttime look without much hassle," says Goutziotis. We're completely obsessed with Charithra Chandran's undone-but-done take on the trend, courtesy of hair stylist extraordinaire Christian Wood.

Natural waves

Noticing a trend? Yep, natural is basically in across the board. Goutziotis agrees: “More ‘natural and undone’ hair for effortless looks [will be big]. [Think] lived-in natural waves. Celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Kaia Gerber have recently been seen to embrace more of a minimal-effort style wave.” Copy that!
