This is how Zendaya's hairstylist created two looks for the Met Gala

Zendaya took her role as co-chair of the 2024 “Garden of Time” themed Met Gala very seriously. The Challengers actress wore not one but two archival couture gowns designed by John Galliano.
The first, a dramatic midnight blue number from Maison Margiela, was paired with Pat McGrath's signature Galliano makeup style, which the makeup artist revived for the first time in over a decade earlier this year at Maison Margiela's Couture 2024 runway.
The second look was a voluminous black gown from Galliano's short two-season stint at Givenchy, which apparently has never been worn until today.
Both looks however, featured jaw-droppingly dramatic head pieces that made her gowns look far more considered and helped to elevate the hair style she wore with both looks, which was surprisingly simple by comparison to the rest of her ensemble.

The exact products and tools used to create Zendaya's 2024 Met Gala hair
According to Zendaya's hairstylist, Ursula Stephen, who was the genius behind the versatile updo, the brief in terms of inspiration for the evening was all about subtle beauty that's equally "very delicate and very confident". Despite the lofty ideals of the creative duo, Stephen employed some straightforward methods to bring Zendaya's vision to life.
To start with, she shampooed the actress' hair prior to applying the Living Proof Triple Bond Complex ($64.38 from Amazon Australia) and blow-drying Zendaya's strands using the Dyson Supersonic r™ Professional Hairdryer (salon exclusive) on the tool's high heat and high air flow settings.
Once the actress' hair was completely dry she added the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment ($41.71 from Amazon Australia), and gathered the hair into a sleek, low bun, securing it with a hair tie, then twisting and pinning the hair into a beautiful shape. "I channelled a calla lily," said Stephen in a press statement.
Finally, the hairstylist fussed up the top layer of the hair in order to separate it from the rest of the hair, and then she used the Dyson Corrale Cordless Hair Straightener ($699 from Adore Beauty) on a low heat to curl Zendaya's flyaways and to create an angelic finish.
"Tease and shape these pieces to suit [your style and] hold in place with hairspray," advised Stephen for the folks following along at home.
