The beauty brand that’s on a mission for equality for girls
They have all your Christmas gift giving covered, too
You know that happy feeling you get from buying a new beauty product? Maybe it was a little reward for ticking off a goal or a just-because treat for yourself. Regardless, beauty has a way of putting us in a good mood. And this festive season, The Body Shop want to turn that good mood into a great one by giving you even more reason to go out and buy a face mask, body moisturiser, Christmas beauty pack or whatever you like.
How? Through their Dream Big project.
The Body Shop is just as famous for their do-good initiatives as they are for their luxuriously decadent and heavenly scented body butters. Whenever you buy a product from The Body Shop, you know that the people who contributed to it - be it the women who expertly handcrafted the shea butter in Ghana or the Bengaluru community who collected the Community Trade recycled plastic that’s used in some of The Body Shop’s packaging - have been nurtured and supported by The Body Shop brand just as much as you will be after using their products.
This Christmas, The Body Shop has partnered with Plan International, a leading global children’s charity that helps advance children’s rights and equality for girls across the globe.
Following in the footsteps of The Body Shop’s underlying female empowerment mission, The Dream Big project is all about helping enhance girls’ lives by providing them with the knowledge, skills and support to unleash their full potential and pursue their dreams. Plan International provide girls with an opportunity to earn a living, overcome gender inequality and create change in their greater community.
With every purchase you make at The Body Shop in November and December 2019, you’ll be supporting Plan International to provide training and skills for 1500 girls in Indonesia and Brazil. This dynamic duo’s goal is to raise £250,000 (approx. $450,000 AUD) for the program so girls can achieve their dream job or start up their dream business.
In Brazil, the Dream Big project will help Plan International set up a Girls Leaders Network to empower girls by giving them the skills to earn a living and the support to become social activists within their communities.
In Indonesia, Plan International will mentor and educate young people in rural areas to provide them with the know-how to set up their own businesses or find jobs in the agricultural sector, as well as give them every chance to create a bright future for themselves and their families.
So how can you help? Easy! Just restock your supply of all your go-to The Body Shop products in November or December (like the cult favourites Shea Nourishing Body Butter, Ginger Scalp Care Conditioner and Hemp Hand Protector), and maybe even do some of your Christmas shopping in-store - the Born Lippy Festive Star is the perfect stocking stuffer, the special edition Warm Vanilla Festive Sack is a failsafe gift for anyone and everyone, and we’re obsessed with their next-level Beauty Advent Calendar selection this year!
