Time to banish dryness – spring is just around the corner
Time to banish dryness – spring is just around the corner
How’s your skin faring in this winter weather? Do you need to step things up to get it back to glowing? Make these changes to your beauty routine, stat.
1
Upgrade your moisturiser
“It is important to protect and maintain hydration levels during cooler months,” says Kerrie Moore, National Training Manager at Dr. LeWinn’s. Reduce dry, taut skin by upping the power of your moisturiser and switch to a super-rich one with hydrating ingredients, including hyaluronic acid and vitamin A or B. Not only are you hydrating your complexion, you’re protecting it too, as the ravages of cold weather can be just as ageing as sun exposure.
2
Supercharge your serum
If you’re skipping this important step in your daily routine, your skin’s missing out. “Think of a serum as an all-in-one shot of vitamins, antioxidants and nourishment,” says Corinne Morley, Trilogy’s in-house beauty expert. Used twice daily, it will help transform your skin and bring back your healthy glow.
3
Wake up brighter
Winter is the perfect time to be diligent about using your night cream. “Night creams tend to be richer and provide extra nourishment to your skin while it is repairing and replenishing itself,” suggests Morley. Your skin will feel revitalised by the morning.

4
Try a dab of nourishing oil
“Oils offer intensive nourishment, hydration and repair while protecting skin against ageing caused by free radical damage,” Morley says. She suggests daily use to even your skin tone and enhance brightness. Prone to oily or combination skin? Don’t be afraid to try oils – opt for a light version or one made for your skin type.
5
Prime your skin
“For an extra boost of hydration, try a luminous primer,” suggests Napoleon Perdis. “It helps provide the skin with a youthful glow and creates a perfect smooth base for your makeup.” It also helps keep makeup in place, ensuring your skin looks fresh for longer.
6
Fake a flush
“Sweep a small amount of bronzer onto high points where the sun hits, like the chin, nose and forehead,” suggests Perdis. Follow with a creamier blush and switch to a light-reflecting fluid foundation that will counteract dullness.
