New ways to up your workout game

Stay motivated to exercise with these buys

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / October 02 2017

While daylight savings is a good enough reason to get back into the routine of exercising early in the morning, there are other ways to stay motivated and kick goals all through spring and summer. Here are six ways - from things that you can wear to things you can ingest - to maintain your enthusiasm for being active.

1

Wear new technology

If you’re looking to beat your PB, it’s important to keep a record of your progress over time. Do exactly that with a Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro Small, which is a wearable fitness monitor that is water-resistant and can even count your swimming strokes and laps and monitor your heart rate in one. It’s the perfect accessory for those hitting the pool this season.

2

Try compression tights

Compression tights, like 2XU Mid-Rise Print Compression Tights, do much more than make you look good at the gym. Shona Halson, Senior Physiologist at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), explains why they’re so effective to wear during training: “At the AIS we have demonstrated performance improvements in running and cycling, and another key research outcome is reduced swelling, with studies showing improvements of more than one centimetre to key muscle groups when wearing compression during recovery. The performance benefits are also related to increased blood flow and decreased muscle oscillation.”

3

Introduce supplements into your routine

Besides eating healthy, a set of supplements can support your internal functions. Swisse Pre-Workout is boosted with vitamins B1 and B4 and amino acids to encourage energy production; BEAR Restore Vitamin K2 + Ginkgo For Energy is made with vitamin K2 to maintain good bone health; and Body Science Naturals Organic Plant Protein can be taken after a workout to feed nutrients to tired muscles. However, it’s best to consult a professional (like a doctor or nutritionist) when it comes to introducing supplements into your routine if you’re confused about which ones are right for you.

4

Switch up your deodorant

Freshen up before and after your workout with a slick of a deodorant that can provide protection for hours. The new NIVEA Fresh Invisible for Black & White Deodorant is specially formulated to minimise white marks and yellow stains from appearing on your clothes, or if a zingy citrus scent is more for you, reach for Weleda CITRUS 24h Roll-On Deodorant, which smells of lemon and petitgrain oil (from the bitter lemon tree).

5

Improve your diet

If you want to eat well but don’t have the luxury of time to meal prep, a healthy food delivery service could be ideal for you. Eat Fit Food’s newest program ‘3 Day Vegan Reset’ can provide important nutrients and fibre daily, and all you need to do prior to enjoying the meal is heat it up. Special shoutouts to the turmeric coconut curry and cauliflower and cannellini bean soup, which are both so delicious.

6

Relax your muscles

With all the exercising you’re doing, it’s important to relax your muscles to speed up recovery and soothe your mind. Salt by Hendrix Soak Infusion in Lavender + Hibiscus is filled with a mixture of magnesium-rich Epsom and Dead Sea salts to detoxify, lavender to heal, and hibiscus to nourish, and all you need to do is add two tablespoons of it to a warm bath to unwind after a big day.
