Model Adut Akech’s pre-Met Gala luxe beauty prep secret
“I’m never wearing makeup again”
Do you know what we love almost as much as the Met Gala itself? The documented celebrity beauty prep that comes before it! Because we need ALL the tips we can get on how to look our glowy best before a big event.
And it looks like Sudanese-Australian model Adut Akech is pulling out all the stops this year, indulging in a luxurious 24-karat gold face mask at the Manhattan-based Soma Spa –priced at a cool $783 Australian dollars.
Yep, no biggie.
The 19-year-old posted a shot to her Instagram Stories, writing “Had the 24k gold mask for the first today and didn’t know how to act @soma_spa”.
Prior to her pricey gold facial, Akech underwent the popular HydraFacial treatment - a medical-grade skin resurfacing treatment that works to cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate the skin with a pen-like device. She then had a high-frequency skin treatment to help minimise her pores, and finally - the Instaworthy gold mask facial.
And the benefits sound pretty darn good. In her Instagram Stories, Akech's beautician says the mask works to “hydrate and brighten the skin” and is great for “fighting blemishes and sensitive skin”.
On the Soma Spa website, the gold facial is described as a detoxifying treatment that “has intense anti-aging properties by activating the process of cell renewal to rejuvenate the skin. It's rich in minerals, to restore skin tone, cleanse, and detoxify.”
The site also says that the treatment, “Significantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and ensures that skin elasticity is maintained to make your skin look youthful and radiant.”
Post-treatment, Akech’s skin looks positively FLAWLESS. She says, “I have super sensitive skin and being a model and having to wear makeup every single day for work, that really doesn't help my skin.”
“I've been struggling with my skin for so long because the minute anything goes on it, I just react. It's so hard and frustrating.”
We feel you, Adut!
“My skin hasn't looked this good in a really long time and I'm so happy. I'm never wearing makeup again, the only time I will wear makeup is on Monday obviously for the Met but after that [shakes head].”
With skin that looks as good as that, we would go makeup-free every day of the week, too!
Now, who else needs to start a savings fund for that 24-karat gold facial?
