See for yourself what really happens behind-the-scenes at VAMFF
Working in the beauty industry means we often get exclusive access behind the scenes at fashion shows. We get to see how leading makeup artists and hairstylists create those catwalk looks that not only complement the work of the fashion designers, but that also tend to set the beauty trends for the coming season.
And as much as we’d like to rock up with an entourage of all of you so you can witness the action and learn from the beauty industry’s best, sadly we can’t.
Well, we couldn’t. Now, thanks to social media and some handy tools like the new Snapchat Spectacles, we can (virtually) take you behind-the-scenes with us, so you can see what we see and get a coveted glimpse at what it’s like being a makeup artist working on a tight schedule to create runway makeup looks on a room full of models.
Beauty Crew recently took the Snapchat Spectacles out for a ride at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, where we not only took our followers backstage, but we convinced Makeup Director for Priceline, Rae Morris to don a pair so we could see how she created one of the show’s beauty looks, all from her point-of-view.
While applying the makeup, Morris shared her favourite prep products (cult favourite French beauty products Bioderma Sensibio H2O and Avéne Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream), how she likes to blend under-eye concealer (spoiler: it’s using the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge), and that her favourite way to highlight is with Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream.
You can watch our VAMFF journey and pick up some excellent tips from Morris below:
If you’re a social media fiend, these are the celebrities worth following on Snapchat, and the Instagram hairdressers that’ll give you all the hair inspo you could ever want.
