The Stark sisters have changed a lot since the show started filming
Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams have grown up before our very eyes as Stark sisters Sansa and Arya on the HBO hit show Game of Thrones. With the final season now airing, we thought we’d take you on a trip down memory lane to have a look at the girls’ beauty transformations over the years.
2012
Pictured here on the red carpet for the first season of GOT’s DVD premiere, Sophie and Maisie are truly fresh and baby-faced, with Maisie rocking her short hair and a bold red lip, while Sophie has her hair pulled back into a high ponytail, and is wearing a subtle cat-eye.
2013
While attending ‘An Evening with Game of Thrones’ presented by The Television Academy of Arts and Sciences back in 2013, Sophie and Maisie kept their beauty looks quite pared-back again. This was post Arya’s season one chop, so Maisie opted to dress up her super short crop with hair accessories. She wore a gold headband that matched her dress, and minimal makeup. Sophie also opted for understated makeup, letting her youthful, glowing skin shine through.
2014
During a private dinner for designer Christian Siriano at New York Fashion Week, the girls looked decidedly more polished than ever before with Maisie styling her hair into an elegant updo, and Sophie delivering major hair goals with shiny barrel curls. We are loving Maisie’s bold brow and Sophie’s smoky eye.
2015
Oh how they’ve changed! At the 2015 SAG Awards in Los Angeles, both Sophie and Maisie chose to wear their hair in soft romantic waves, with Maisie styling hers into an updo that delicately framed her face, and Sophie opting for a glamourous side-swept look that showed off her fiery long hair. Switching up their makeup for more dramatic looks, we can’t get enough of Sophie’s sultry kohl-lined smoky eye and nude lip combo. We’re also big fans of Maisie’s vampy blood-red pout and subtle tan.
2016
Pictured here at the premiere of Game Of Thrones season six, Sophie and Maisie seem to have found their beauty confidence, showing off much edgier looks. Maisie paired her cool-girl messy hair with glowy, pink makeup. Sophie went next-level with milkmaid braids, extra smoky eyes and seriously dewy skin.
2017
Both girls showed off new hair colours at the BAFTA Tea Party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. The pair absolutely nailed their beauty looks here – Maisie’s modern take on a ‘60s cat-eye is simply gorgeous and paired perfectly with her now-darker wavy shoulder length hair. Sophie took inspiration from her outfit with a slight metallic sheen across her lids, a thick lashing of mascara, and her signature flawless skin accentuated with a cream blush. And who could miss her transformation from red hair to her natural hair colour – blonde. Stunning!
2018
Attending GOT co-stars’ Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie’s wedding, Sophie and Maisie were each other’s plus one (seriously, friendship goals). While their makeup was mostly hidden under some seriously cool eyewear, they both opted for understated hairstyles. Maisie styled her hair into a beautifully undone updo and Sophie neatly tucked her dead straight, platinum blonde hair behind her ears for a sleek look.
2019
At the Game Of Thrones final season premiere in Belfast, after eight seasons of Game of Thrones together, the pair couldn’t look more different than when they started. Maisie has really embraced her own style as she’s gotten older and has experimented with a number of different hair colours and cuts, including this pink lob with blunt bangs. Similar dusty shades of pink and peach were repeated through her makeup for an edgy tonal look. Sophie embraced full Hollywood glamour with her stunning white and silver gown that she has paired with a classic red lip and delightful shades of blush on her cheeks and eyes.
