Make the ‘liquid bob’ hair trend the sleek new start to your year
Who doesn’t love a chic, silky straightened hairstyle?
If you thought we’d thrown away pressed lengths in the New Year, then you’d be dead wrong.
We love our natural hair texture, but there’s something oh-so satisfying about running your hands through a cascading waterfall of freshly straightened hair.
The term ‘liquid hair’ has been circulating the beauty sphere since last year, but in 2022 it’s all about a complete reset with a swift chop to unnecessary inches.
This year it’s all about the ‘liquid bob’.
Glassy, soft and typically one-length, this trendy hairstyle is the perfect excuse to pull out the hair iron you were gifted for Christmas, or an even better excuse to get that keratin treatment you’ve been putting off.
Plus, if you do have the moolah to head in-salon for a semi-permanent treatment, you’ll be able to enjoy glossy strands for a bit longer than it usually takes for humidity to wreak havoc on your (otherwise untreated) hair. Take that, La Niña.
As for the celebrity take on the liquid bob? Those with a penchant for straighter styles have been seen sporting their own interpretations of the trend, softening the edges with blow-dried and curled-in ends to frame the face.
The trend isn't showing any signs of slowing down, either. In fact, Vanessa Hudgens revived it yet again at the 2022 SAG Awards with a gloriously glossy, sleek and straight liquid bob style. Chic, right?!
Want to nail the ‘liquid bob’ hair trend at home? Here are some products we recommend:
Kick off the process with the weDo Detangling Spray ($34.95 at Look Fantastic) to free strands of any snags or knots, then take a straightener over them, slightly flipping in ends.
As for the styler you wield, we recommend the Platinum+ Hair Straightener ($355 at Adore Beauty); CLOUD NINE The Original Iron ($339 at Adore Beauty); and Philips Moisture Protect Hair Straightener ($139 at MYER).
We’re committing to shorter strands this year. The ‘boy bob’ hair trend is already taking over 2022.
