The spring styles set to transform your tresses

The inspo is everywhere...

Content Producer / September 05 2024

When it comes to styling our strands, we'll happily let the major choices be led by two people. 1. our stylists, duh and 2. the celebs, because their stylists know what's up.

At the beginning of the year, here at BEAUTYcrew HQ we like to sit down and make some major predictions (with some expert help of course) about the cuts and colours to come for the year, which we revise seasonally so see any shifts. And now that we're moving away from the winter hair trends we're looking to see what will brighten our strands for spring and summer.

So, we had to turn to our go-to hair expert, Jaye Edwards, founder of Edwards and Co, to find out what we can expect to see in spring...

Spring 2024 Hair Trends

Spring Hair Colours

Vacay Brunette

@_sweetlikecinnamon

As things start to heat up, we like to spend our days by the beach pretending to be on vacay, when really, we're just down the road from home (let us pretend, okay?). And the perfect tone to pretend we're sunning ourselves somewhere tropical? Vacay brunette! The tone "add(s) some dimension and warmth to the dark base, enhancing the natural colour for the warmer months". But how do you make sure you're taking care of multi-toned hair? With a unique balayage-specific treatment of course. The leave-in, dual-action Revlon Professional Restart Color Balayage Care Cream ($29.95 at Oz Hair and Beautyworks to not only nourish your strands but is also know to leave them looking even more radiant.

Cowboy Copper

Yep, you heard it here first: "cowboy copper is back and (it's) better than ever". The rich, sparkly red has many different versions, but if you're looking to shake it up and dare to dye, now could be the time. Wella Professionals even have their easy-to-use at-home Color Fresh Mask ($36 at Adore Beautywith the shade 'copper glow' being the perfect pick for transforming your tresses.

Microlights & Expensive Brunette

@_edwardsandco

TBH, expensive, glossy-looking strands are always our goal. And when we found out that Edwards actually thinks the tone is "super low maintenance and makes all the difference", you best bet we were booking in for an appointment. And of course, reaching for a bottle of Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate 5-Min Liquid Mask ($69 at Adore Beauty). Known for its gloss-giving, restorative abilities, we had total faith it could give us the expensive glossy look we're all after.

Going hand in hand with an expensive brunette tone is microlights, and even though the "technique is simple", it makes a huge "impact to lift and enhance your natural colour". But be warned, "less is more with microlights"; you just want a few to give you that "next level, new season glow".

Honey Bronde (AKA Old Money Blonde)

@sofiagrainge

As if we didn't already love everything Sofia Richie Grainge (especially her affordable bronzer pick), we've now realised that her hair is actually at the top of our list. With a 'honey bronde' meets 'old money blonde' appeal, the tone is "colour is warm, sparkly yet subtle" perfect for spring time.

Spring Hair Cuts

Curtain Bangs

@sabrinacarpenter

@daisyedgarjones

Look, we get it, cutting a fringe can be a huge commitment. And because we've all had some fringe trauma in the past (just us?), we get that easing into it might be the way to go, which is why a curtain fringe is actually the best way to go. With celeb inspo like Sabrina Carpenter and Daisy Edgar Jones, who wouldn't want to replicate the look? Just be sure to leave this one to the professionals.

Ethereal Curls

@charli_xcx

It's official, short 'smullet'-esque cuts are out. We're welcoming in the era of long ethereal hair, with thanks to our current 'it girl' CharliXCX as inspo. If you've got the long locks without the enchanting waves don't worry, we've found a simple trick to fake the trend. Get your hands on the Mermade PRO Hair Waver ($109 at Mermade Hair), section your strands and crimp away. You'll have flowing wavy tresses in no time.

‘90s Blowout

@matildadjerf

It's the style that's literally not going anywhere. We're talking big, bouncy voluminous hair, thanks of course to the classic '90s blowout. But don't worry, you don't have to hit the salon on the reg (although we back that choice) because the latest ghd Duet Blowdry Brush ($595 at Sephorais the choice for wet-to-dry bouncy style.

Emma Allcock began her career in the world of fashion and beauty in 2015, interning for various PR fashion houses. Naturally her love for style soon extended to beauty, and Emma landed firmly in the beauty and wellness world thanks to an internship-turned-role at local Australian fragrance brand Maison Blanche. One thing that remained consistent whether unpacking accessories or creating social content? Her commitment to an always-perfect manicure. Luckily, she’s since turned her talents to helping her readers achieve the same, writing about all things beauty and wellness. Emma is now a Content Producer for BEAUTYcrew, with her words and recommendations also appearing across Girlfriend and beautyheaven. Emma loves the process of diving deep into the world of testing (and writing) about everything from haircare to fragrance. When she’s not slathering her skin in something new, she’s going for an early morning stroll to catch a stunning sunrise (coffee in hand, of course), because life’s all about that wellness balance after all.
