Kat Graham swears by this cult hair styler for taming her natural curls
When it comes to maintaining her curls, The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, is admittedly a bit of a novice. And so when quarantine hit and she didn’t have access to her usual hair care professionals, her hairstylist Rachel Lee had to leave her to her own devices, with nothing but a few key products to hold her over. “It’s almost like she knew I was going to be on my own. And I’ve never had to be on my own with my hair before,” the actress said in a video for Vogue.
The first product? Cantu’s Avocado Leave-In Conditioner, which Kat says “was the product that really helped me figure out that my hair will work with me, if I don’t give up on it,” later admitting that, “this is like my fifth jar.”
When it comes to everyday styling, Kat’s all about a Sade-esque bun, so she needs products that will tame her curls and flyaways without damaging them. This is where Briogeo’s Curl Charisma Chia + Flax Seed Coil Custard comes in.
Described as a moisturising styler, the Revolve best-seller helps to condition and moisturise curls using flaxseed oil, shea butter, chia seed and rice amino acids for soft, supple, defined, and most importantly, manageable coils.
“It’s amazing, black owned, and you can see this, basically my curls will do whatever I want them to do.” she said as she demonstrated pulling her hair back into a tight bun easily to show the camera. “This is me loosely holding onto my hair, and it’s just completely clean,” she says, referencing her laid flyaways.
“Then when I take it out at the end of the day, it’s just so soft.”

Since then, her keen interest in fashion and beauty has landed her gigs as a Digital Content Producer and Beauty Editor with titles like Girlfriend, Refinery29, BEAUTYcrew and beautyheaven. She loves the way seemingly innocuous topics like skin care and style have the ability to put a smile on people’s faces or make them think about themselves a little differently. A big believer in self love and experimentation, Briar has made a point of becoming the Australian beauty industry’s unofficial guinea pig for unusual treatments and daring hair trends.
