Here are the hair, skin and makeup buys she can’t live without
Working for a digital brand calls upon hours spent glued to our screens, and one page that we keep coming back to is Jules Sebastian’s Tea With Jules segment on YouTube. Not only is it interesting to see the different personalities that make it onto the show (there’s everyone from relationship expert John Aiken to Aussie personality Natalie Bassingthwaighte), but we’ve always loved Jules’ infectiously warm personality. We spoke exclusively with the professional makeup artist, fashion stylist, TV presenter, lifestyle blogger and ambassador of Woolworths’ new skin care line Voeu about her favourite beauty products, and more.
On her beauty mantra…
“Beauty works from the inside out.”
On the one beauty rule she lives by…
“I always wash my face before bed and try to drink lots of water.”
On how her beauty routine has changed since being a mum…
“I need fast, easy and convenient. The mornings are my biggest rush, especially the ‘getting ready’ part. Wrangling two kids in the bathroom is fun for no one, so for me, the simpler the better. I still love looking after my skin and wearing makeup, so my routine is to take care of my skin first, then minimal makeup over the top. It’s fast and furious!”
On her favourite skin care products…
voeu Facial Gel Wash – it’s gentle and cleansing. Cosmedix Purity Solution Deep Cleansing Oil for a deeper clean, and it removes any excess makeup and oil. voeu Micellar Water – I love using this after my cleansing to soothe the skin. Aspect Dr Multi B Plus Serum, this leaves my skin feeling really moisturised. voeu Age Regenerate Eye Cream – it’s great for those fine lines under the eyes.
On her favourite beauty indulgence…
“I am a sucker for a massage! It’s always over too fast! I don’t have them too often, but when I do, I’m the happiest person on the planet.”
On the three makeup products she can’t live without…
MAC Zoom Lash Mascara. It’s really black, lengthening and thickening. Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil: it gives really good yet subtle definition to the brow. Samantha Jade for Models Prefer Eye Palette, it has excellent shades of shimmer and stays on all night!
On how she keeps her hair looking healthy…
Moroccanoil Treatment through the ends of my hair on a daily basis really nourishes my dry ends. Olaplex Hair Perfector – this is a great once-a-week treatment for the hair. My hair feels really smooth and healthy after each treatment. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – best ever! This spray gives amazing texture and thickness to my hair without the crunch.
On how she relaxes…
“I don’t have too much time to relax and unwind to be honest! I have two- and five-year old boys and they (and I) live a very active life! My relaxation comes at about 9pm each night when I settle in and watch a bit of Netflix (I’m watching The Good Wife at the moment!).”
