Meet 'Jelly Donut' blush, the trend that sounds good enough to eat
Let's be real, we're kind of totally obsessed with blush RN. And if we really think about it, there are three culprits for the recent devotion. First up, Hailey Bieber with her iconic flushed strawberry cheeks, Sabrina Carpenter's blinding blush that got us questioning if we could maybe be blush blind. And of course, the root of all trends, TikTok.
Yep, we've learnt a lot of new (and at times questionable) techniques from the daily scroll, from the under-eye blush hack to the game-changing 'W' blush application.
And now, we're getting our fill with 'Jelly Donut' blush.
What is 'Jelly Donut' blush?
So we might be totally used to regularly learning a new method of blush application, but this one (similar to the 'Sunset Blush' trend) actually calls for getting your highlighter involved. Because is there anything better than a glossy glowing cheek? We think not!
How to apply 'Jelly Donut' blush
You'll be happy to know that unlike so many of the other beauty trends out there, this one will actually save you time. Yep, it's a super cute hack that'll have you skipping steps.
So, to apply the 'Jelly Donut' blush, you need to start with a circle of highlighter (the donut if you will) on your cheekbone. And then pop a little dot of (jelly) blush in that circle and blend away. And ta da! You've got yourself some seriously delectable cheekbones. See, we told you it was totally easy!
When it comes to trying the trend, make sure to pick up creamy, liquid products to get the best bendable impact.
Blushes to try the 'Jelly Donut' blush trend
Alright, after some *ahem* extensive TikTok research (read: we got lost in the scroll), we've come across two sets of iconic duos that work to create the look.
The first (and OG) comes from the liquid blush (IYKYK) people, Benefit. You can use their totally cult classic Benetint here or, opt for the thicker pigment-packed Benefit Cosmetics Lovetint ($42 at Sephora). And it wouldn't be a true glazed donut without a glossy coat of luminous highlight. And none quite hit the same as Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Highlighter ($39 at Sephora).
When you think of hyper-pigmented blush, who do you think of? Rare Beauty of course! The incredible Selena Gomez might need to go on our list of culprits when it comes to our love of blush because her liquid formulas offer the most powerful, creamy tones. To create this look, it's definitely not a one size fits all approach. But the duo of shades that stuck out the most to us were the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer in 'Enlighten' ($49 at Sephora) and Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in 'Joy' ($45 at Sephora). Stunning!
