Makeup tricks for plumper lips
Use rich textures and rosy hues to enhance your pout
Use rich textures and rosy hues to create a plump pout in a flash
Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Jessica Alba. Angelina Jolie. These celebs all boast fuller lips and here’s the good news: you can, too.
Ageing, sun damage and smoking can leave lips looking thinner, lined and dehydrated. But with a few makeup tricks, you can transform your pout from lacklustre to luscious.
Here’s handy guide for how to get fuller looking lips.
1
Exfoliate
To ensure your lipstick shade stays put, first create an even surface by lightly exfoliating your lips with a lip scrub or wet washcloth.
2
Pick the right lip shade
The right hue “brings life to your face”, says make-up artist Elsa Morgan, who suggests a soft red or pink shade. “Go for creamy, velvety textures,” she says. Apply several coats of lipstick using a lip brush for precise application and, blotting between each to create a natural finish that’s less likely to feather.
3
Tactically highlight
To really fake a plumped-up look, take a lipgloss in a matching shade and apply it only to the centre of your top and bottom lips. To finish, dab a cream highlighter on your cupid’s bow to give the appearance of fullness.
