Glossier has launched two new perfumes
This is what we know about the fragrances
There are two things we know will never change in the beauty industry: 1) Rihanna's navy will never stop begging for new music, and 2) Glossier customers will always have beef with the brand for reformulating 'You'.
However, as far as the latter is concerned, for the first time since You's reformulation in 2022, Glossier is refreshing its fragrance range with two all new flanker perfumes
The brand teased the launch via Instagram with a bit of shadow puppetry and a vague illusionary statement.
"The scent of something is in the air. Your impression is soft like a pulse, but strong. A fever dream, bodies close, sticky sweet, the rush of it. The countdown is on."
Then, a follow up post revealed a release date (10.3.24), as well as the key notes of the perfumes — amber, jasmine, palo santo, ambroxan, plum, iris, and sandalwood. Whilst the caption read: "Poised and raw. Soft and sinuous. There is nothing left to say – when your impression says it all. A special delivery, through the lens of Glossier You."
Finally, on September 26th 2024, Glossier dropped the news that the two new perfumes are called Glossier You Rêve and You Doux. The flanker fragrances bear a striking resemblance to their predecessor Glossier You, except the baby pink synonymous with the brand's central fragrance has been exchanged for a plum purple and jasmine petal white.
But due to Glossier fans' appetite for the beauty brand's products, a lot of information about the new launches — Glossier You Rêve, in particular — was already circulating on reddit forums.
Fashionista reported on the dual launch on September 19th, which had been circulated to media and influencers in a locked box that could only be opened with a code that would be sent the day the embargo lifted on September 26th. The publication also alleged that the range extension is a pre-cursor to the sale of the brand by Glossier founder Emily Weiss, who officially stepped down as CEO in 2022.
Redditors also spotted that influencers who shared the fact that they'd even received a PR package from Glossier had their TikTok videos reported and removed from the social media platform. But that didn't stop the details of one of the scents leaking.
Beauty news distributor @trendmood1 managed to get their hands on key information about one of the perfumes — Glossier You Rêve (meaning 'dream' in French). The Instagram post in question detailed the key notes of the flanker perfume — ambroxan, plum butter, sandalwood, and toasted almond — and shared how the new scent related to the existing You fragrance range.
"The signature Ambrox base of Glossier with an energizing upgrade with notes of plum butter, sandalwood, and toasted almond perfect for the gourmand lover who prefers a subtle, skinlike scent."
