Get your glow on with these clever tips

Having glowing skin is always on our wishlist, but it’s not always possible to look like you’ve had an ample amount of sleep every night. So, the trick is to reach for makeup products that can cleverly hide any signs of fatigue and leave you looking fresh. Here’s how to boost your skin’s radiance with makeup with tips from Estée Lauder Australia’s National Education Manager Nica Marcello.

1

With primer

We all know that primer is essential to prolonging the wear of your foundation, but one with illuminating properties can also boost your skin’s natural radiance. Something like Estée Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer will do the trick - simply apply it all over your face post-moisturiser, and you’re good to go.

2

With foundation

Pick a dewy foundation instead of a matte or velvet foundation, as this will mimic your skin’s natural glow even when you’re not feeling so fresh. Work Bourjois City Radiance Foundation into your skin, starting at centre of your face. “This is where we hold a lot of redness naturally in our skin,” says Marcello. Then, blend the foundation out towards the jawline.

3

With concealer

If you’re looking to hide dark circles or tired, sallow skin, then a concealer is your best bet. Our tip: look for one with illuminating properties (like Maybelline New York Dream Lumi™ Touch Highlighting Concealer) so it works seamlessly with your dewy foundation, and leaves your skin looking brighter and more awake. “I usually create a triangle underneath the eye area to conceal and brighten to area at the same time,” says Marcello. “Using your ring finger, just pat the colour in. This will help blend and melt the product into skin for a flawless finish.”

The patting motion also helps with lymphatic drainage, which will help to de-puff eyes at the same time.

With bronzer

Think bronzer is just for contouring? Wrong, a light dusting of a shimmery bronze colour can accentuate cheekbones and boost your skin’s radiance at the same time. “Start from the ear and down along your cheekbone in a straight line,” says Marcello. “Make sure it’s flawlessly blended into the area of the ear, especially if you’re wearing your hair up in the evening.” Try L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blush Sculpt Trio in Nude.

5

With eyeshadow

To make tired eyes look wider and brighter, use a light beige eyeshadow with shimmer particles, as this will brighten your peepers in an instant. Apply a soft wash of colour with a nude eyeshadow palette like Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting EyeShadow 5-Color Palette in Defiant Nude across your eyelids. “Take the colour all the way up to the brow bone and apply a bit more product all over the lids to help the eyes pop.”
