5 bob haircut trends to try in 2025
As far as hair trends are concerned, we're forever on the hunt for a haircut that confidently combines practicality and style. Think: The kind of low effort, high reward chop that looks good, even if you've just rolled out of bed.
Enter: The bob.
A perennial classic, this haircut never goes out of style, instead it evolves over time. The bob trends in 2025, for example, appear to demonstrate our desire for a simpler time with clear historical references to old Hollywood glamour and the Baroque period. Natural textures and bounce are very much in too, says Alannah Jade, Shark Beauty Ambassador and director of Brisbane's Ella & Jade Salon.
"People are opting for cuts that grow out beautifully and don’t require salon visits every other week," she tells BEAUTYcrew. "It’s all about effortless cool."
"The bob will always be popular — it's a timeless style," Jade explains. "It’s the little black dress of haircuts — always chic, always versatile, and always making a statement when it's done right."
Keep scrolling to discover the five bob haircut trends Jade has forecasted everyone will be trying in 2025.
1/ The Kicked Out Bob
The kicked-out bob is expected to be the defining bob trend of the year, the hair expert explains. It's all about that sleek, intentional flick on the ends, for that effortlessly chic vibe à la Nara Smith. "The oval brush attachment on the Shark FlexStyle ($499.99 from Shark) is ideal for nailing that smooth, flicked-out finish," says Jade.
2/ The Undone Bob
The undone bob is your go-to for that relaxed, natural look in 2025, Jade tells BEAUTYcrew. It's all about easy texture and movement. Think: wearable style with plenty of volume.
"A killer textured bob is all about the right cut," she explains. "Layers with the weight taken out of the ends will nail that effortlessly undone, choppy look."
3/ The Cherub Bob
"The cherub bob is a whimsical style, blending a classic bob with soft, cherub-like curls," Jade explains. Inspired by Baroque-era cherubs, this trend emulates the playful and joyous depictions of the period with big, bouncy curls, which create a halo effect and a cute, curly fringe.
"The cherub bob is all about embracing natural texture and creating soft, bouncy curls," she says. "It's that effortless, romantic feel that makes it so appealing. It's super versatile, working for any hair texture, and especially perfect for those with natural curls."
With this trend, the right cut is everything — especially if you're working with curly hair — but you can always define your texture, and encourage bounce, with a bit of help from a diffuser.
4/ The Blunt Bob
Leslie Bibb's itty bitty bob from the most recent season of The White Lotus is the beauty look everyone's talking about right now, says Jade. The blunt cut is polished and chic, without looking too overdone.
"An earlobe bob is a bold statement," says the hairstylist. But if you're stuck on how to style the shorter look, Jade recommends tucking it behind the ears to keep it looking sleek and put together without much effort.
5/ Old Hollywood Bob
The old Hollywood bob is bringing back that iconic, vintage glamour — glossy waves, big barrel curls, and that red carpet feel — it's a timeless classic redefined, says Jade.
"A bouncy blow dry is always in style [and] big, beautiful and healthy hair is always a 'yes'," she explains. "Glamour. Plain and simple."
