PSA: You could be blush blind!
TBH, we think we might be...
So, you know how a few years ago we stopped GAF about whether our blush looked ‘natural’ and started packing on the pigmented flush? Yep, we’ve undoubtedly got beautyTok to thank for the growing ‘blush’ makeup category, and TBH we aren’t mad in the slightest – although our natural rosy cheeks might also have a say in this game.
And if you’re known for scrolling through TikTok trends (like us), you’ve probably come across several different blush application techniques along with a world of different blush trends. We’re talking everything from the ruddy likes of ‘Boyfriend Blush’ to literally turning your cheeks into a golden glowing Sunset Blush vista. Well, now our undying love for blush might be officially being called out…
Because the latest beauty trend to come out of our beloved TikTok poses the question, ‘are you blush blind?’.
Are you blush blind?
What is 'blush blindness'?
So, what is 'blush blindness'? Well, TikTokers are explaining it as not being able to see just how OTT your blush is. And the fear for many beauty lovers is real. But if being blush blind is wrong, we don't want to be right. Because layering on the blush for the back row is how we now live our lives, trends be damned. And TBH, if it's good enough for Sabrina Carpenter (and by the looks of her glossy, glowing pigmented cheeks it is), then we'll be happily claiming our blindness.
You'll catch us living in our Carpenter-inspired ignorance, smearing a palette full of blush across our cheeks. If you want to do the same, these are the picks that you need to try out...
Blushes to try out the trend
Yep, we're fully embracing the 'blindness' that comes with a serious pop of colour. And what's better to do that with than one of Carpenter's very own face blushes? The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Glow Blush ($72 at Adore Beauty) offers silky smooth, 'lit from within' radiance. Oh and if you wake up from your blush delusions, it can be applied more minimally for a natural flush.
Of course, if you're totally aware of your supposed 'blindness' and are actively looking for an intense blush to layer on, look no further than the Patrick Ta Major Headlines Double-Take Creme & Powder Blush ($68 at Sephora). This palette provides not only a power-packed pigmented cream blush but also a dimension-creating powder blush to layer on top for a head-turning pop of colour.
Don't worry, we hear you: you want a layer of gorgeous colour but still want that highlighter-worthy glow to illuminate through. Well, the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush ($50 at Sephora) is here to give you just what you're after. With the same Rare Beauty trademarked pigmentation this soft powder gives you a seriously undeniable glow.
