Blake Lively *owned* the red carpet with this ‘80s-inspired hairstyle
Her curl game is STRONG
While she’s known for those goal-worthy beachy waves, Blake Lively just showed off a completely unexpected retro-inspired hairstyle on the Versace 2019 Pre-Fall Show red carpet – and we have a feeling that it’s the start of something big (no pun intended!).
The actress wore her ombre hair in a mass of super voluminous, tousled curls, which were swept over one shoulder and pinned at the side with a glittery barrette. The girl looks like an *actual* ‘80s dream!
Permission to swoon:
Anyone else getting major ‘80s disco vibes? We’re totally into it. Also, we need to give a shout-out to THAT stunning vintage Versace dress (it’s from 1999!) because it is next-level.
So how does one achieve such intense volume? Such perfect curls? Such a non-frizzy finish? Well, while we originally thought the actress may have had a perm, it turns out her whole hairstyle comes down to just four products.
Blake’s longtime hairstylist Rod Ortega was the magical hands behind this red carpet look, and he shared the exact products he used so we can all get in on the trend, too. What a guy!
On Twitter, Ortega said he started off with a spritz of Christophe Robin’s Instant Volumizing Mist with Rosewater, before using the T3 Cura Whirl Trio to create those voluminous/defined/polished curls. He then applied a Kérastase texturizing spray and finished with Christophe Robin’s Intense Regenerating Balm.
Sounds like a total cinch, right? It’s retro curls without the perm, the gallons of hairspray and that crunchy, sticky hair texture (*shudder*).
It’s official: Big hair is *definitely* making a comeback!
Blake isn’t the only celeb bringing back retro hairstyles. Check out Rita Ora’s stunning ‘60’s-inspired ‘do.
