Angelina Jolie’s dermatologist just spilled her beauty secrets
And you *need* to take note
At 42 years old, Angelina Jolie’s skin is utter perfection. So when there’s word on the street that her life-long dermatologist (Angelina’s been seeing her since she was 11) is FINALLY dishing out the star’s beauty secrets, we listen.
Speaking to Refinery29, Beverly Hills-based dermatologist Dr Rhonda Rand revealed Angelina’s natural and surprisingly simple approach to skin care, as well as the star’s go-to travel staples.
“She's always been such a natural beauty, so she didn't ever have to do much”, Dr Rand told Refinery29.
“It was really just sunscreen, proper cleansing with a mild, gentle cleanser, antioxidants, sometimes glycolic [acids], and natural products. Some alpha hydroxyl [acids] are good too, and they're very natural. She doesn't need major scrubs or products with lots of chemicals," shared Dr Rand.
While there’s no denying the actress is genetically blessed (yep, those lips!), skin THAT radiant doesn’t come without some effort.
When Angelina pops by for in-salon treatments, Dr Rand says their main goal is to reduce pigmentation through laser resurfacing and IPL treatments. "[Laser resurfacing is] used to improve your skin and give it a little bit of a glow, but it's a little more than a facial...And sometimes, when [Angelina’s] in very sunny climates working, she can get some pigmentation, too. We can help take care of that with a photofacial or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). We're super careful. None of these things change the quality of your skin or cause scarring," Dr Rand notes.
So, what kind of skin care products would you find in her travel kit? Angelina sticks to natural skin care formulas from Dr Rand’s personal skin care line, Dermbasics. "When she travels, she takes a good skin care regimen with her [including] alpha hydroxys or antioxidants. There’s a product of mine that she loves [called] Dermbasics RR Perfection Cream,” says Dr Rand. “It's a chemical-free antioxidant sunscreen and that's a good thing to travel with.”
"We also have another product she likes and takes with her: Dermbasics Glycolic Acid Pads 20%. They remove the stratum corneum [the outermost layer of the skin], increase collagen and elastin, keep pores clean and appearing small, and even out discolouration."
Buuut before you get too excited, just a heads up - unfortunately Dr Rand’s products don’t currently ship to Australia.
BRB – just nipping over to the US to grab the whole skin care line.
