The top non-surgical cosmetic treatment trends set to take over in 2020
Including the lip injection style everyone will be requesting
In previous decades, talk of the cosmetic procedures one was having done was basically unheard of. But these days, thanks to the rise in the popularity of treatments, this taboo has lifted.
Last year, Australia overtook America when it came to the number of procedures performed per capita and the explosive growth of our cosmetic treatment industry is showing no signs of slowing down.
As we prepare to move into a new decade, Sydney’s Privée Clinic Founder and Nurse Practitioner, Natalie Abouchar, has weighed in on what she believes the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment trends will be for 2020.
#1 / Lip flips
“Quick, easy and affordable, the lip flip treatment smooths vertical lip lines, while also flipping the lip out slightly to show more of the red vermilion of the lips, rather than gum when you smile. It involves anti-wrinkle injections to the lip area and gives the lips a subtle boost. It can also help improve the appearance of a gummy smile,” says Natalie.
#2 / Jawline and chin enhancement
The jawline and chin are areas that previously that required invasive surgery and extensive downtime to improve their aesthetic appearance. However, these days, dermal fillers can be used to create clever fixes for weak jaws and chins.
"Dermal fillers can now be used to add definition to facial contours and create the appearance of a more defined jawline," says Natalie.
#3 / Skin needling
As a “natural and pain-free treatment, skin needling is a form of collagen induction therapy that is becoming extremely popular. Needling creates micro-injuries to the skin, triggering the body to go into healing mode, boosting collagen production for smoother, firmer skin. It can also be used to treat scarring,” says Natalie.
#4 / Chemical skin peels
Our obsession with attaining flawless skin will continue into 2020. And, chemical peels are the perfect treatment option for a number of skin concerns such as pigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles.
“For stubborn pigmentation and tough-to-treat melasma, the Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a one-off treatment with impressive results,” says Natalie.
#5 / Fuller lips with shape taking precedence over volume
Gone are the days of the overdone trout pout. For 2020, the focus for injectables in the lip area is set to be on perfecting the shape of the lips instead of adding obvious volume.
“With lips, there is a focus on shape rather than volume, with a defined cupids bow being in high demand,” says Natalie.
