Tried and tested: holistic booty plumping
Unsure if a Brazilian butt lift is for you? RF might be the answer
Whether or not it’s the lasting influence of the Kardashians, I think we can all agree the trend of cultivating a big booty is here to stay. Brazilian butt lifts are rife, the black market beauty industry pedals butt injections like they’re candy, and the rest of us are out here squatting on the daily like our lives depend on it.
But apparently we’ve been overdoing things because as I discovered recently there is a far easier, low fuss solution to sculpting a phat ass.
Introducing Radio Frequency: a skin-tightening and sculpting treatment that uses heat to trick your body into thinking it’s experiencing trauma, resulting in collagen production and skin-tightening in the area treated. The heat generated permeates the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin causing tissue retraction, resulting in instantly tighter and firmer skin, as well as reducing and smoothing the appearance of cellulite and uneven skin tone.
I was lucky enough recently to get to try this booty-plumping treatment at I Am Beauty Body Studio in Sydney’s Potts Point alongside The Booty Co’s Booty Lotion, where studio founder Chloe took care of my RF treatment.
Who is it for?
RF is for almost anyone (always check with your RF technician prior to your appointment to check that you’re compatible with the treatment) and can be performed on any part of the body that needs tightening and sculpting. It’s a great pick for brides who want to look their best on their big day, those looking for a quick tone-up prior to a big event or before hitting the beach in summer.
The treatment process
Your RF technician will assess the area - in this case Chloe took a good look at my butt under a white light and decided that we would focus on lifting the lower cheek and upper thigh in our session. I then settled myself on a massage table face-down, booty-up so she could cleanse the area and a lubricant was applied so Chloe could begin her good work with her magic wand.
She applied circular massaging motions to the area, and as she did this the metal plates on the end of the device started to warm up and emit that all-important radio frequency. A thermometer was used intermittently to ensure my skin wasn’t getting too hot but I have to say the warming sensation was a welcome one – I would compare the sensation to a hot stone massage – honestly, so relaxing.
After treating each cheek, Chloe hung up the RF wand and used a product applicator to massage some of The Booty Co’s Booty Lotion into my skin to finish up. RF creates channels in the epidermis which allow deeper product penetration, meaning all the booty plumping ingredients like guarana seed extract, brazil nut oil and collagen peptides in the lotion formula were being streamlined into my skin, firming and nourishing as they went.
The verdict?
Though I only had one session (Chloe usually recommends between 4-10 sessions in conjunction with ultrasound sculpting for a complete reshaping of the treatment area) I have to say I am impressed with the results. Admittedly I have minimal fat and cellulite in the area that I had treated and Chloe admits this does affect how quickly you will see your desired results, but I saw a distinct change in volume and plumpness literally overnight.
In fact, the most interesting factoid about this treatment is that it works like a HIIT workout in the sense that the heat created by the device lasts past that relaxing booty massage. So, whilst my bum appeared perkier directly after Chloe finished up our session, the firming action was more noticeable the morning after, when I had a good ol’ gander at her handiwork in the mirror.
So, if you’re like me, and are a bit iffy about butt injections or surgery, this is a great non-invasive alternative to growing the booty you want (and deserve).
There is no booty quite as impressive as JLo's. This is the secret weapon behind her incredible butt.
