Showcasing a stunning combination of both wearable and striking beauty looks, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) was certainly a week to remember.

Here, we look back at the top hair and makeup trends that are set to take the remainder of 2018 by storm.

#1 / Glitter

It seems all our childhood dreams have come true as glitter is well and truly back in. At the Leo & Lin show, “sparkles in varying sizes were used to create an otherworldly glow that matched the ethereal clothing collection,” says Global Makeup Artist for Napoleon Perdis, Rajja Richani. Additionally, while admittedly not anywhere near as wearable but equally stunning, the makeup team from Shiseido – led by Linda Jefferyes – glued sheets of glitter to models’ faces at the Camilla show. “We wanted [the models] to look like warrior princesses and the solid sheets enabled us to achieve that look,” explains Jefferyes.

Although the two looks probably won’t become your new Monday to Friday makeup look, they both signal that it’s time to whip out the one glittery eyeshadow palette that’s lurking in the depths of your makeup draw and give it another chance. We, for one, can’t wait.

#2 / Standout eyes

Whether it’s a bright colourful eyeshadow, graphic liner or a geometric eye look, statement eye makeup dominated MBFWA this year. If you’re looking to up the ante and go bold with your eye makeup, take your cues from the Hansen & Gretel and Alice McCall shows. Just keep your base makeup minimal and opt for a pared-back nude lipstick to ensure your overall look doesn’t clash and is suitable for everyday wear.

Alternatively, if you’re of the belief that you should either go hard or go home when it comes to your makeup, take inspiration from the stunning look from the Romance Was Born Resort 2018/19 show. We guaranteed you’ll turn heads.

#3 / Curls

If the hair looks from the Macgraw, Roopa and Acler Resort 18/19 shows are anything to go by, straight locks are out and bouncy, curly hair is in. The best thing about this curly hair trend is how versatile it is. Whether you opt for tightly coiled, textured and messy or romantic and bouncy curls, there’s a curly hairstyle option to suit everyone.
