Toni Braxton just revealed she massages her face with a vibrator

We'll have what her skin's having

There are a lot of products we love finding new and creative uses for. Lipstick as eyeshadow? We love to see it. Moisturiser moonlighting as brow gel? Count us in.

A vibrator, however, isn't usually one of them. We generally like these kinds of tools to stick to their, er, specific skill set. Singer Toni Braxton, on the other hand, happens to think we've been missing their multipurpose use this whole time.

In fact, in a Vogue video detailing her beauty routine, Braxton revealed she prefers her personal gadget's unique massaging abilities for plumpness rather than pleasure. "This thing right here, I'm gonna be honest, it is a vibrator," she explains, showing off the violet number she relies on. "But I call it a face tingler. It tingles the muscles in my face and gets them activated and working." Skin care, but make it saucy.

Before you spout off any concerns about hygiene, though, (for the record, placenta on the face is as far as we'll go), she did clarify that this particular tool is reserved solely for her complexion. "I haven't used it on anything else other than my face, okay, just FYI," she laughs.

So, how exactly does the process work? Not dissimilarly to the way you would use any classic facial massage tool. "I just take this little ball here [on top] and I just rub it [against the face so that it] activates all the muscles [and says to my skin] 'get it together, we are working today, we're gonna be cute today'," she shares.

And while the traditional use for said tool is usually on the hot and steamy side, Braxton actually prefers her vibrator chilled in the face massaging department. "Sometimes I just put it in the freezer, because it makes it really cold [which feels good on skin]," she says. An interesting hack to also try elsewhere, perhaps? Hey, we're just brainstorming here...

Her followers are definitely fans of the new use, too. "If I pay for it, I'll use it however I see fit!😂" said one, while another wrote "At first I was laughing but then I was like... maybe you're onto something because your skin is FLAWLESS". Another, however, was a little more curious about the 'how' factor; "But wait... how did you determine this would work though 👀😂?" they asked.

It's really not
that much of a stretch, though – everything in the cleansing-brush-massage-tool family does tend to look the teensiest bit raunchy, and so the similarities are easy enough to spot.

After all, we try not to think about how many times guests in our bathrooms have wondered about the uses for the stack of tools gracing our shower shelves...

The only saving grace? The resemblance runs both ways. It's nice to know that "no, that's actually my facial massager, Toni Braxton taught me" is now a completely legitimate response if anyone ever unearths your personal toolkit.

And yes, we know what you're still wondering: does it actually work or is it just a treat to talk about?

Technically, yes, it should work just about as well as any other facial massager tool does. Vibration helps to stimulate collagen, enhance circulation and relax the facial muscles, and your face doesn't really know the difference.

And while Braxton's exact tool of choice (the Trojan Vibrations Power Wand Deep Massager) isn't available yet here in Aus (cue crying emoji), there's no need to worry. It's definitely the kind of item that we'd all be delighted to ask any of our U.S. or U.K.-based friends or family to purchase, package and ship to us, right? Right?!

BRB, calling our random great aunt that lives in London... solely in the name of great skin, of course.
