The unexpected hair trend coming out of this year's Cannes Film Festival
We did NOT see that coming
The 2019 edition of Cannes Film Festival kicked off last week and is now in full swing. As one of the most hyped red carpet events of the year, naturally it’s delivering some beyond-incredible beauty inspiration.
We’ve been on the lookout, pens at the ready, while we prepare to snap up the best of the beauty inspo and serve it straight to you.
And when it comes to hair, quiffs are seriously #trending this year!
Now I don’t know about you, but quiffs give me flashbacks from my mid-2000s school formal, and not in a good way. Anyone else?
But after seeing these celebs stepping out on the Cannes red carpet rocking their various interpretations of the hair trend, I’ve totally changed my stance and am on board with this rock ‘n’ roll-inspired hairstyle renaissance.
Bella Hadid
We’re loving the updo Bella Hadid had going on for the Rocketman premiere at Cannes. Her flawless pulled-back ‘do is softened by the quiffed-up front section which gives this hairstyle a serious cool-girl vibe.
Amber Heard
American actress/model Amber Heard stepped onto the red carpet at the Les Miserables screening looking flawless with this French roll. Although she’s opted for a traditional French roll, the sculptural quiff that curls back in a wave-like shape lends a quirky feel to the classic ‘do.
Sara Sampaio
Victoria’s Secret Angel Sara Sampaio looked 100 per cent rock ‘n’ roll in this slicked-back hairstyle. She’s opted for a subtle quiff that adds shape and interest to her sleek bun. We love how the quiff gives her otherwise classic, feminine style a masculine edge. And in combination with the silver suit, we’re getting some serious Elvis vibes.
Tilda Swinton
You could say that some sort of quiffed ‘do is basically Tilda Swinton’s trademark hairstyle. The British actress is more than a little partial to the style and why not? With Tilda’s short hair, the style draws full attention to her incredibly sculpted features (get a load of those cheekbones!). We’re low-key obsessed with her right now.
