Suki Waterhouse admits she lied about washing her hair with Coca-Cola

When you have hair as amazing as Suki Waterhouse, people are obviously going to ask you about it. We want to know all the secrets, okay?! And honestly, we’d try just about anything she suggested if it seemed like it was a step on the way to Waterhouse’s signature tousled texture.

But it seems the actress/singer/model/hair inspo may have, um, ‘embellished’ her advice during a now infamous interview, and it happens to be the tip we all remember best. Because hey, who doesn’t love a wacky celeb beauty hack?

"I rinse my hair with Coca-Cola sometimes,” Waterhouse told Us Weekly in 2015. “I don't like my hair when it's washed – it's fine and limp, but Coca-Cola makes it tousled, like I've gone through the Amazon or something.” It seemed out of the box, sure, but Waterhouse always had a genuine ‘not like other girls’ cool-factor to her, so we took her word for it.

But Waterhouse has now debunked the confession in a series of tweets, replying to a Bustle editor’s ‘Suki Washes Her Hair With Cola, So I Tried It Out’ article with the comment “I did Jessica dirty”.

She then followed up with the official confession: “ok… i have to be honest, i got bored doing hair interviews and said this. i have never done this ma’am.” So that dispels that! Unfortunate for anyone who tried the ‘trick’, sure, but hilarious nonetheless.

The funniest part of this whole debacle? The fact that Waterhouse is dating Robert Pattinson, a self-confessed public pathological liar. The actor even told GQ that he often lies and makes up stories in interviews when he panics and doesn’t know what else to say. Funny but fair!

Content creator Olivia Lily Marks shared a TikTok video pointing out this funny connection. “Robert Pattinson’s girlfriend Suki Waterhouse has just proven why her and Rob are soulmates,” she explained. “She’s admitted that she lied about washing her hair with Coca Cola because she got bored about talking about her hair in interviews. And if these two aren’t made for each other, I don’t know who are.”

“This is so funny cause I saw so many influencers rinsing their hair with soda,” one user commented. “They are both so sarcastic, I love it,” another wrote. We agree – hilarious. We just hope no hair was harmed in this situation!
