Selena Gomez opens up on the mental health treatment that changed her life
In 2018, Selena Gomez checked herself into a mental health facility after an emotional breakdown left her in hospital – twice. Following her hospitalisation, Selena took some time away from the public eye.
Now, Selena has opened up on her struggles with mental illness and the treatment that changed her life.
“I found out I do suffer from mental health issues. And, honestly, that was such a relief. I realised that there was a way to get help and to find people that you trust, I got on the right medication, and my life has been completely changed,” Selena told WSJ Magazine.
“I had low self-esteem, and that’s something I work on continuously. But I feel so empowered because I’ve gained so much knowledge about what was going on mentally.”
Besides receiving professional treatment, it seems the star is also keeping her mental health in check by focusing on her self-care regimen.
“I need time by myself. I love going to my room at the end of the day. Just me and my dog,” she said.
