Saweetie swears by these two cult-favourite brands for managing her oily skin
An icy girl’s guide to dealing with pimples, if you will
Saweetie has a reputation for her signature icy girl flavour.
She shows up to red carpet events with frosty hair accessories à la the 2021 Met Gala and frequently dabbles in on-the-money beauty trends with impressive hair colour transformations.
So it should come as no surprise that as far as skin care is concerned, the rapper has a penchant for cult-favourites that make dealing with pimples a luxurious experience.
In her recent Vogue Beauty Secrets exposé, Saweetie shared that she’s struggled with oily skin and breakouts since puberty. But after her mum put her onto having a solid skin care routine, she’s never looked back.
Funnily enough, the rapper is a bit of a brand loyalist and sings devoted praises to brands Tatcha and Ole Henriksen.
As for the specific products she swears by for managing her oily skin and reoccurring pimple problem, allow us to introduce you…
1/
A deep-cleaning cleanser
Saweetie really rates the Tatcha The Deep Cleanse ($57 at MECCA) because it does what it says on the bottle.
“It’s a deep cleanse but it’s super light [too],” she confirmed.
Besides being gentle on skin, she also shared that “it makes your skin feel really smooth.”
2/
A radiance-enhancing mask
“There are certain face masks I like to do before I put on my makeup because it just gives your girl that extra glow,” the rapper said in the video, speaking specifically of the Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask ($102 at MECCA).
Her pro post-mask tip is super important too.
“Ladies make sure you rinse – especially for my girls with big pores – with cold water.”
Why, you may ask? Well, according to Saweetie, rinsing with cold water is a super important step for the pimple-prone.
“You do not want to leave your pores open for the makeup to seep in because that creates pimples,” she explained.
3/
A complexion-clarifying toner
Another key step in Saweetie’s pimple-fighting routine? Toner.
Saweetie’s choice in the skin-clarifying category is the Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner ($45 at Sephora), of course.
“For girls who have skin like me – super oily – you know sometimes there’s a little bit of dirt left. So I like to use Ole Henriksen for the toner,” she explained.
“[But] make sure you move quick… because you want to put your lotion on immediately after your toner,” the rapper advised.
4/
A brightening moisturiser
Saweetie has previously dealt with a bit of backlash because of her favourite moisturiser – the cult OLE HENRIKSEN C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème ($68 at Sephora).
It seems people were under the impression that the brightening formula was a skin-lightening cream (it isn’t), and according to the rapper she has no intention of ever purchasing skin-lightening products; “I love my melanin” she said in the video.
“This [moisturiser] is for dark spots,” she assured viewers.
“I had a really nasty pimple and that sh*t was so ugly, it was really coming for my life and it was just not cute, [but this] brightened up that dark spot,” Saweetie explained.
“I just can’t have pimples on my face and I have to pop them,” she dished. “So the consequence is a dark spot and I have to clean it up.”
Ergo the need for a brightening moisturiser formula.
