VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance - VSS9900A

I was so excited when I found out that I'd be part of the selected participants who were trialling the VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance - VS9900A. Upon arrival of my parcel, I noticed that the packaging was marketed and delivered very nicely. The box was sleek and nicely designed. As for the contents inside... I liked that there was the option to detach the detangling comb. It's a nice feature that I found useful. I prefer to give my hair a brush through and part into sections prior to straightening for the most precise results. Next, I think it's great that VS Sassoon created the base station which connects to the reservoir. This automatically refills the straightener in a very timely fashion, or one can use the pipette for a direct refill. The only "annoying" thing with the steam feature is that I have to use distilled water.  I have a reverse osmosis filter at home and upon enquiring, was informed that the minerals left behind can/will build up, and in turn negatively effect the device. Last but not least, the temperature control of this appliance is such an impressive and imperative component for me!! I love that there's 5 heat settings, ranging from 140 - 220 degrees Celsius. This also accommodates for the styling of heat resistant synthetic wigs :) Thoroughly enjoy using my VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance straightener and I highly recommend it!

I have shoulder length hair that’s not too frizzy but is very thick. The thickness means it can be stubborn and often I wake up with a small wave in it that can be hard to get out. I also really hate when a straightner makes my hair frizzy or fluffy. This straightner definitely passed the test though - minimal frizz and no fluffiness!   Prior to trialing this straighter, I have used a GHD for a very long time.   To begin with, I was nervous how the steam function was going to work and if this would make it more complicated to simply straighten my hair. I was however pleasantly surprised. Straightening your hair could not be less complicated with this straightner!

I will start out saying I have used many straighteners in my time and am someone who straightens daily. When I received the VS I only used the non-steam function as I was in a hurry. However, I found the steam function to be almost as quick once I set it up. Firstly, the non-steam straightener was great. I have fine hair but quite a lot of it and very long. I was done in 5 minutes maximum. Soft, silky and super straight result. Definitely up there with the top brands. Secondly, I tried the steam straight. I found the instructions clear and the set-up super easy. The water container is compact and stylish to leave on the vanity for easy access. I had a similar experience with the steam as without. Straight, soft and silky but without the extra heat and damage, which for my fine hair is a great advantage at preventing breakage. The product design is sleek and sophisticated in appearance. It is much lighter and less bulky than I originally thought it would be. I wasn’t a big fan of the comb at first and was tempted to remove it but I persevered and actually have become quite accustomed to it. It may be a bit harder with thicker or curly hair but with fine hair it actually helped to keep my hair from slipping out the sides. I absolutely love this product and would have no problem recommending to anyone. It exceeded my expectations and I’m my opinion in league with the GHD and Cloud Nines of the world.

I have no words to say apart from Love Love Love Love! This is absolutely incredible!!! if you need a new hair straightener then this is the product for you! (Run don't Walk) This product is incredible and i highly recommend to anyone! especially people that have thick, course, frizzy long hair! From the moment i opened this product i new this was going to be a forever product! I have tried a number of VS Sassoon products and have had very positive experiences. I was intrigued/sceptical when i first heard about the Steam Straightener as well as very lucky that i had been able to trial this. I was quite unsure as to how this product was going to work as well as not having high hopes. Over the years i have found it extremely hard (and i mean extremely hard) to find a hair straightener that will straighten in one go as well as keeping my hair straight without having to pay crazy money. I can now confirm i have found this product This product makes my hair feel: - Less Frizzy - Long - Hydrated - Healthy - Luscious - Natural - The steam straightener has 5 heat settings for personalised temperature control (not many hair tools have this many heat settings) - The Detangling Comb on the hair steamer is removable if this isn't something you wanted to keep although i found this amazing for my thick hair - Wide Plates for faster straightening for larger sections of hair - you can leave the base station at home and take the straightener wherever you go and just fill up directly In-between sectioning/ brushing your hair you can place the hair steamer on the base which will automatically refill the steamer. The one concern i have is the size of the product and where best to keep as it's quite a bulky product. Other than that i absolutely love!!! I have had none stop comments from colleagues, random people in the shops, family and friends when i use this product whereby people have asked if i have been to the hair dresser. Is that not saying something!!!? FYI i'm no hair expert and i would say a beginner at hair. I also had my mum and my nana try this product and without any assistance and they both were able to figure out how to work it as well as the base station. My mum has similar hair to me: thick, course, frizzy and she absolutely loved this product. My nana has the opposite hair to me : short, thin and lifeless and she absolutely loved this as she was able to achieve a 'straightened blow out' look. My mum and nana were both amazed at how well this product worked and that it lived up to the name and their expectations!!! Overall this is such an amazing, incredible and an easy tool to use and would recommend this to beginners as well as advanced users. I can't wait to attempt more tips and tricks with this product. I'm really excited to show the rest of my family and friends this product and may also buy a couple as presents for christmas so they can experience what i have experienced! AH-MAY-ZING!!!!!!!! Shook. There are so many features that I love about this VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance - VSS9900A product. The design is really well thought of. I can't find a fault & I can usually be a real Karen when it comes to judging haha. I love that it has a locked close option for storage. I love the removable combe. ( after a few tries having the combe on the bottom side((towards the ground)) helps to not pull or drag on your hair.) I really like the adjustable heat setting & how fast it heats up. I like that you don't have to put the straighten into the dock everytime you put it down. Its just really smart alaround design. So the actual steam setting isn't hard to use. I have very long hair (down to my butt) & if you fill the straightener up I only had to refill it once which is amazing! I thought it would of been 3 -6 times to finish all my hair. The steam helped with my frizziness & kept it straight until wash day 4. & you can do touch ups with just the normal straightener, no steam if you like. I sectioned off & completed half my hair, took a photo & was amazed. I wish I could add it for you all to see. The price point of $200 is just great. My last straightener (which I still love) was over $300 . So this is well worth the money. My only wish is that it had a storage bag. I HIGHLY recommend.

Firstly, receiving this in the mail was very exciting. The box looks super fancy, inside was fancy, the straightener looks fancy. As someone with dry frizzy thin hair the way my hair straightens is very important to me as I have those ends that will go any direction they want regardless of how much I straighten it. I was very intrigued with how the steam would work on my hair and I am impressed! My hair was sleek, smooth and stayed straight for a few days which is a massive improvement. VS has always been a brand I’ve been interested in trying and I will keep my eye out for more of their products in the future.

Oh em geee!!! I've only recently discovered the amazing looks a hair straightener gives...I have fairly thick but straight hair that's prone to frizziness and countless split ends. Comparing it to my other hair straightener I only bought a few months ago (it gives off a mist of water) it gives it a run for its money!! The convenience of the station that refills the water tank is awesome, the removable comb helps to comb thru my hair when I straighten it, the different heat settings depending on your style, and the ability to turn the steam setting on and off...this by far has to be one of the best I've ever used. It leaves my hair looking smooth and shiny

I was a bit skeptical at first but very intrigued by the VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance. My hair since high school has been frizzy and unmanageable so I have used quite a few straighteners before. Usually, I like something lightweight and that reaches high temperatures to force my hair into submission however I was always slightly concerned about the damage I might be doing to my hair. This straightener was larger than the one I currently own however was not as heavy as it seemed. I found the water container easy to use, the straightener is not too complex as you refill the water by laying the straightener on the water reservoir. I think the steam is a little scary at the start but as you get familiar with it you don’t mind it too much. I removed the comb/hair guide on the straightener as I was worried it would catch my hair but will test it out in the future. As you straighten your hair the steam acts a gentler method of straightening. I have noticed that for straighter hair it is preferable to section your hair in smaller sections but larger sections when you are in rush still work fine. I noticed afterwards that my hair was more shiny, in my opinion there is less heat damage with a steam straightener but I will need to use it long-term to tell.

WOW WOW WOW, I honestly didn’t expect this when I first read about this straightener. The idea of a steam iron kinda freaked me out but this was just so good! I used it on 140 degrees and using the steam, it was very impressive. I thought the steam would make my hair frizzy but it left it smooth and silky. it mentions a “poker straight-in-one-pass” and I couldn’t believe this was actually true, my generally frizzy and wavy hair only needed one single pass (sometimes 2) to be completely straight. I like it built in comb but it was a little hard to remove so I have decided to just keep it on. The water filling station was super easy to use however I wish the straightener made a noise when I needed to refill it as I had to keep checking. The included glove is also way to small for my hand. The straightener cools down very fast which was awesome. Overall, I really liked this and it has replaced my old straightener.

I was blown away by this product! Not only does it straighten in one pass, but it leaves your hair feeling so soft. I have thick and frizzy hair and the Steam Straight Brilliance glides through my hair easily and the steam element leaves it looking shiny and beautiful. The steam technology is so cool and easy to use, but the straightener can also be used without steam too. The wide tongs make it quick to straighten my hair and maneuver. Having frizzy hair I believe the biggest game changer has been the conditioning steam this uses. Not only was it super quick and easy it kept my hair super straight all day and for the next few days till my next wash! I had multiple compliments from friends about how amazing my hair looked which is always nice. I also enjoyed how easy it is to fill with water. Overall super impressed and looking forward to using this more and would recommend this for everyone!

Just WOW... I was more than excited for the opportunity to try out the VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance because I had never tried, nor heard of a steam straightener and I wanted to see if it lived up to my expectations. The minor details - The packaging is lovely, it looks luxe and is extremely informative which mean't that I was confident when I tried to use it. The straightener is sleek and not heavy; which means that it is easy to hold and use. It comes with a base that enables the water to fill into the straightener as well as a detangling comb that can be attached to ensure hair is brushed while using. There are variable heat settings and the plates that capture your hair are titanium and wide, to help straighten larger sections. The important part - My hair strands aren't overly thick, but I have a lot of hair which can often mean that straighteners with only one setting dry out my hair more than needed, but this baby was amazing. The adjustable heat settings mean that I could adjust the heat to suit my hair type (and give it only what heat was needed), and the steam that is distributed during straightening actually made my hair feel soft and nourished. Overall it did a great job straightening my hair (with less frizz than usual), it was quicker than other straighteners, and left my hair looking and feeling in better condition than it usually does after straightening.

I was very thankful to receive this product as part of a Review Crew trial. The product looks very professional and I was very sceptical and thought that my current GHD would still be better in the end, but I was wrong. On normal use with my GHD my hair would kink at the ends after a few hours, but with the steam straightener it did not kink and it did not frizz either. I loved how it straightened thicker sections of my hair as opposed to my GHD which would only work on small sections. I really like that the steam does not dry the hair out and makes it feel smooth and look really shiny. I was a little concerned when filling the well on the straightener thinking that somehow I would break it, but it was simple and easy. I loved that it came with a heat glove, the only other inclusion which would be of great benefit is a heat mat. I have used the Silver Bullet Straightener and GHD and had great results from both, but the Steam Straightener gives a far better result. I will be packing away the GHD and using the Steam Straightener from now on.

Amazing!! The steam feature but it is a absolute game changer !!! I have never a steam straightener before and found the instructions and parts a little over whelming at first, however I was really surprised at how easy it was to use. I have thick hair and a lot of it so it usually takes forever to straighten but I was so surprised at how quickly it works! Honestly you just need only one glide through your hair for super silly straight hair! My hair stayed straight all day, with absolutely no frizz! The straightener itself feels really sturdy & expensive which is nice. I love that it has thick plates and also different heat settings. I think this will help improve the condition of my hair over time so I am super excited to see how the results go!!

I found overall this was a pretty good straightener. It made my hair straight with little effort at it lasted for at least 24 hours before beginning to become more wavy. It was easy to use and I love the range of temperatures and the option to turn on and off the steam function. Just a couple of negatives. I found the hair comb incredibly difficult to remove even though it said it was simple. I felt like it was piercing into my fingers as I tried to remove it. I also tried it with the steam function which worked well for the first couple of uses with the straightener but then the steam stopped coming. I even checked the straightener and it still appeared to have water in it but no steam was being made. Unsure if it requires to have more water in it for the steam to work but just was strange that it had a good amount of water but made no steam. Overall it's a good straightener and would recommend for its features and temperature options.

I have been using my old straightener for the past 10 years so the VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance - VSS9900A is definitely an upgrade which I am very impressed by the functionality and result. My first impression is that it looks and feel very luxurious and high quality. I have natural fizzy/wavy hair with dry ends and the straightener works amazing as it was easy and quick. The conditioning steam technology gives back shine and the healthy glow into my hair. I really like the 5 heat settings option rather than manually selecting the degree by going up 10degree at a time. I am really impressed by how fast it heats up like within 10-20sec. I don’t mind the detachable comb and the straightener is still amazing even without it. I don’t use detachable comb while curling my hair because it does make the process harder. Unfortunately my curls didn’t last more than 8-10 hours however my hair does stay straight the whole day. Overall, I would only use this to straighten my hair because I got my own curler to curl my hair. The straightener is indeed very heavy so it also makes the process very tiring while curling my hair. I love there are options provided to refill water into the device as I don’t use the refill base station due to the small size of my vanity. It is very considerate for the brand to include a water pump for manual water refill.

As someone with thick, frizzy hair an effective straightener is something I have been looking out for. This did not disappoint! I would even go as far to say that this is the best straightener I have owned! The product was super easy to set up and use. I like how the buttons are on the inside, so they do not get in the way while straightening. The biggest standout for me was the way my hair looked and felt after straightening. It looked shiny and felt very soft. It did not feel dried out like with other straighteners. The steam element is definitely useful and I can't imagine going back to a traditional straightener. My hair stayed straight for days, even with humid weather. This is a big win as I did not need to retouch during the week. I LOVE this product! Would recommend for anyone with thick, frizzy hair!

I have been considering upgrading my almost 7 years old VS Ssaaoon straighter for some time. I'm very excited about the new model VS with steam function, it is priced similar to my old device ($200, $my old device was 185). I have thick, unruly, over voluminous (Asian) hair, and always hard to style. First I tried 200 degrees (manufacture recommend temperature for my hair type) without steam, With a couple of slightly bigger plates, it is easier to use compared to my old device, but it has yet to deliver the shining effects promoted by the brand. So I incased the temperature setting to 220 degrees, this time it worked a lot better than the 200-degree setting, and also a huge improvement compared to my old one at 230-degree setting, despite being 10 degrees lower in temperature. Also, I got the shining straight effect brand promoted, which normally I could only get when my hair was done by a professional hairdresser. A couple of days later, I tried 200 degrees with steam, this time, it delivered a very similar result of 220 degrees without steam. However, it does take some practice to get used to the steam function. First, the heat protection glove (came in the pack of the device) is a must, the steam will make your hair hot for longer; Second, you'll need to keep it away from your scalp and ears (if you really need to use it on roots, I'd strongly recommend using without steam). Overall, I'm pretty happy with my new straighter, it works great both with and without steam. However, the steam function does allow you to style with a lower temperature which will reduce heat damage over time, but if you are in a hurry have no time to fill the water tank, it works wonders without steam too!

I was sceptical at first since I’ve never used a steam hair straightener before but after using it for the last few days I have to say I can't praise this enough! I can’t believe I’ve found a straightener that works on my wavy frizzy hair. My hair has never looked better. I have used it on all my friends with the same frizzy hair and they all feel the same way, it is brilliant! If you have frizzy hair I 100% guarantee you will never regret buying this. It is the closest to a salon blowdry I have ever got at home. Once my hair is done it last up to 3 days looking silky & smooth. Total game changer!! I was very pleased to receive this product as part of a Review Crew trial. I love how the straightener came with all of the required accessories, including a pipette and heat glove. Also I liked the addition of the removable detangling comb. I was actually really excited to trial this new straighter that has the stream functionality. It doesn't take long to heat up. The steam ensures my hair does not dry out or damage easily. I have to say it is a little expensive however over the years I have bought so many different products that have added up to be more than this. I absolutely love this product as I can now wash my hair when ever I want. Due to having frizzy hair I would always wash and blow dry the night before. This product does give you that professional blow dry finish and is so easy to use. Cuts out so much time when getting ready and makes your hair feel amazing!! I’m going to purchase another one for my mum :)

After watching the video demonstration on my smartphones QR reader which took me to a YouTube tutorial I was really excited to get started. My first impressions was that the straightener comes packaged really well, there is a flip up lid with clinically proven results, before and after and a QR reader to scan to see how it tames even the frizziest hair. I really like how this straightener is versatile and can be used with or without the steam. The straightener itself is black in colour with beautiful rose gold details. After watching the tutorial, reading the info provided and going through the manual I decided to use the straightener with the steam function first. As the opening in the water base station that you attached the straightener on to fill up was quite narrow I used a kitchen funnel to fill it up. You can also fill up the straightener with a pipette that is also included but for reviewing purposes I wanted to use the base station first. After filling the base station water I sat the straightener onto where it connects which i found really easy to do. I put heat protection glove onto my left hand as I would typically hold the straightener in my right and touch my hair with the left. After that I checked the little water compartment on my straighter and saw that it was full and ready to go so I pressed the on button, then the steam button and then used the temperature +/- button to select my preferred of 220 degrees as my hair is very thick and frizzy temperature. There is 5 LED heat settings (140°C to 220°C). I sectioned my hair to use which took a total 15 mins all up I used the comb which is optional to start with but felt it pulled quite a bit of hair out so turned the straightener off to take the comb off then used the straightener without it. After straightening all of my hair I checked the water compartment on the straightener (which I also did throughout using) and only used 1/2 of the water compartment on the straighter so in future would use pipette to fill up the straightener and wouldn’t use the base station. The plates on the straighter are wide (the widest I’ve used) and with steam with my thick frizzy hair couldn’t get as close to scalp as I usually would. After straightening my hair my hair was quite boofy, it was straight but I don’t think the steam worked well on my hair, I had to straighten over it with my regular straightener. I then decided next time I needed to wash and straighten I was going to try it without steam - Having very thick and frizzy hair I used the straightener the second time around without steam to compare my results I again used the straightener on the highest setting which was 220 degrees. I have always used the highest setting on all my straighteners as a lower degree then 200 just wouldn’t work for me. After washing and sectioning my hair I pressed the power button on and selected my preferred temp 220 degrees and started gliding slowly over my hair I started from the back then worked my way to the sides of my head all the way up to the top. This was my first time using a straightener with wider plates, at first I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to get close enough to the roots but without the steam and also taking the comb off this time I got just as close as I would with a more slimmer straightener plate. I found it straightened my hair well and much better then it did with the steam. My problem areas being my frizzy roots responded really well and I ended up with smooth, frizzy free hair. I would recommend this straightener to those that’s hair responds well to steam, and also to those that it doesn’t who could use it without the steam option. This would be a great straightener for those with families as it provides options for all.

I was kind of sceptical when I first saw this product. I know my hair! It's thick, frizzy, dry and coarse and extremely hard to manage. It takes a lot of work and effort to get it to look presentable to even leave the house. With my old straightener it always straightened my hair good enough for me to be able to tie up but it never made my hair sleek enough to be able to wear down. It would be straight but it wouldn't stay straight and would always frizz up. When I unboxed the the VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance I was a bit taken aback at how big the straightener is. The handle where you hold the straightener is quite long but I totally understand why. It's so that the steam doesn't burn your skin. The straightener is also quite heavy.  I was a little nervous reading the instruction manual and it does take a little bit of time to set up as I'm not use to using something like this but once you get going I promise you all of that worry and confusion goes out the window and the results are worth it! The next time I use used it, I found it a breeze to set up. To fill up the base station I would highly recommend using a funnel as this made it easier for me to fill the tank. And this also has suction feet so you don't need to worry about it sliding off your counter. It's not going anywhere!  For my first time use the straightener I tried it on the steam function and I had the heat on the highest level (220°) because that was indicated for my hair type. There are 5 temperature setting in total. I clipped my hair into sections and passed the straightener through my hair and was instantly gobsmacked. I immediately felt guilty for even doubting the results this straightener claims to deliver. But deliver it did! My hair was silky, it was shiny, there was zero frizz, it was sleek, it felt soft! I could go on and on forever about how amazing my hair not only looked but felt. I never thought a steam straightener was going to be my solution to my hair troubles that I've hated my whole life. But is is. And don't worry about the steam burning your hands, face, neck or ears because this doesn't happen. At first I thought there would be steam going everywhere as I passed the straightener through my hair but this doesn't happen. I didn't even need to use the Universal heat protection glove. What I do like to do though is use a comb to grab my sections as the hair is a bit hot to touch but I've always done this with any hair straightener. The results were lasting. My hair stayed sleek into the following day. No need for any touch ups. The only thing I don't particularly like about this straightener is having the empty the base station and straightener water reservoir after each use. It's a little time consuming because you also need to allow it to dry out. That's just a small negative. The positives of this straightener totally outweigh the 1 negative. I do however love the removable detangling comb. I personally like to keep it on and I find this really helps my hair pass through the straightener with ease. The next time I used the straightener without the steam function and I found this also works well but I much prefer the steam for my hair. I love that you can use the steam to do a full straighten on clean hair and then if you do find you need any touch ups you can just use the regular setting without the steam.  You can also take this straightener with you when you travel as you don't have to use the base station to be able to use the steam function. You can simply just fill the water reservoir in the straightener directly with the pipette. Or just use it without the steam when travelling. You can also use the hinge lock to keep the plates closed for easy secure storage and for travelling also. The cord isn't the longest cord but it is a swivel cord which is what I always like to see.  Overall I am extremely impressed with this hair straightener. It's unlike any other. It's brilliant and it gives me the best results any straightener has ever given me. I am now able to wear my hair down with lasting results and no frizz. I believe this steam straightener is going be a game changer. Especially for people with hair like mine. I didn't think sleek, soft, satiny hair would ever be an option for my hair type and Vs Sassoon has just proved otherwise. Thank you.
