The exact 4-step lip combo behind Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘GUTS’ makeup

At just 20-years-old Olivia Rodrigo has accomplished more than any of us could dream about. Amid her chart-topping hits and candid lyrics that resonate with millions (thank you, ‘GUTS’), Rodrigo has also become a style icon and a major source of inspiration for makeup enthusiasts around the globe.

But what's the secret behind her beauty routine? Well, that information has been kept under wraps… Until now. During her recent appearance at the VMAs, where she performed her new songs “Vampire” and “Get Him Back!”, she sported a beautiful radiant base with a statement red lip - and her makeup artist Nina Park has revealed the exact product details.

Complexion

A flawless complexion is the canvas upon which Olivia Rodrigo creates her stunning makeup looks. To achieve this, she starts with a high-quality foundation that matches her skin tone perfectly. Olivia is known for favouring lightweight, buildable foundations that allow her skin to breathe while providing excellent coverage.

Park used Nars’ Light Reflecting Foundation in ‘L5 Fiji’ ($80 at MECCA) to even out Rodrigo’s skin tone and spot concealed with the cult favourite Radiant Creamy Concealer in ‘Light 2.3 Madeleine’ ($51 at MECCA).

Cheeks

Rodrigo’s radiant cheeks are the product of cream blush and bronzer. For her VMAs look, Park used Nars’ Afterglow Liquid Blush in ‘Orgasm’ ($48 at MECCA) and The Multiple in ‘Copacobana’ ($63 at MECCA).

Lips

Okay, now for the fun part. Rodrigo’s signature ‘GUTS’ makeup is centred around a red lip. The maximum-impact look is not just tied to one product, however. It takes a combination of four products to achieve that album-cover-worthy perfection (credit to Rodrigo’s other MUA Melissa Hernandez for the iconic look).

Starting with a base of Nars’ Powermatte High-Intensity Lip Pencil in ‘185 Cruella’ ($43 at MECCA), for Rodrigo’s iconic VMA’s performance, Park layered the Powermatte Lip Pigment in ‘Don’t Stop’ ($48 at MECCA) and Precision Lip Liner in ‘Porquerolles’ ($38 at MECCA). She finished off the look with a clear gloss, the Afterglow Lip Shine in ‘Triple X’ ($42 at MECCA).
