Olivia Palermo dropped the best new hair trend at NYFW
Olivia Palermo can do no wrong in the hair department, and her latest style is no exception.
She showcased a killer new hair look at NYFW – and we have a little inkling that it just might be the newest way to wear your lob.
Dubbed the ‘bent glass’ look by Olivia on her website oliviapalermo.com, her hair was worn straight with a neat outwards flick. It looked every bit soft yet sophisticated and we can’t wait to copy the hairstyle for ourselves.
On her official blog, her hairstylist Andre J Davis dished out the products and tools he used to create the look. He wrote, “We wanted to create something super clean and soft yet had a crisp, sharp appearance.”
“In order to create this juxtaposition, I prepped OP’s part with Serge Normant Root Spray for control and light hold then dried her hair flat to keep it uber sleek.”
Starting at the bottom, her hair was sectioned and straightened with a flat iron on medium heat. “This lower heat allows me to manipulate the hair into a super subtle “S” feel – basically I’m treating the hair like blown glass, molding it into the perfect bend throughout the middle of the hair while keeping a straight edge to the ends,” explains Davis.
Apparently the key is to go low and slow, section by section, and use the same motion throughout while running the straightener through the sections of hair.
Once Olivia’s hair appeared ‘bent’, Davis added his “secret weapon” – Kérastase Bi-Phase Oil – to bring out some serious shine and a mirror-like quality.
“Other finishing touches came from Kérastase Laque Couture hairspray and some light dusting with my scissors to make sure those ends were razor sharp.”
Davis’s pro tip? “I used the outside of the can to tame fly-aways as well as at the ends, bending them around the can to seal in the sharp fresh cut!”
