The bold beauty trend dominating NYFW is exactly what we needed
And there are so many ways to wear it
As the first port of call in the annual spring/summer fashion month circuit, New York Fashion Week Spring 2020 has kicked things off with an absolute bang, setting the bar very high for shows in other cities to come.
And, there’s one big mood of a makeup trend that’s been doing the rounds in far too many shows to call it a coincidence:
Move over ‘no makeup’ makeup – colourful eye looks are back in a HUGE way.
From Christian Siriano’s very artistic interpretation of the trend to Sies Marjan’s whimsical pastel brows and Nicole Miller’s popping neon eyelids… There are so many ways to wear the makeup trend and we can’t decide which look we’d like to try our hand at first.
Lash line-to-brow colour
Wallflowers, you may want to sit this one out. This bold neon take on the colourful makeup trend was spotted on the runway at Kyle & Shahida and it is intense. Highly-pigmented eyeshadows in tones that tied in with each models’ outfit was swept from the lash line right up to the brow bone. Gorg!
Pastel brows
Dutch designer Sies Marjan made a statement with this ethereal, pastel eyebrow look. The models’ eyebrows were bleached before being smudged with soft tones. We’re loving the otherworldly vibe of this look.
Graphic eyeliner
This stunning exaggerated cat eye look was seen on the runway at Chromat and we’re all about this wearable take on the trend. Bold slashes of blue and white eyeliner were applied in wing shapes to both the inner and outer corners of the eyes. So fun!
Artistic interpretation
Christian Siriano sent his models down the runway in this gorgeous beauty look that feels as though it was created at the hand of an artist’s paintbrush. There’s beauty in the chaos of the haphazardly-applied pink and blue pigment, and we’re just quietly wondering whether this look is weekend-appropriate ‘cause we need to try it ourselves.
Neon pop
A ‘go hard or go home’ attitude was adopted at Nicole Miller’s show. Fluorescent shades of yellow and tangerine were swept over the models’ eyes before being capped off with a little metallic shimmer to brighten the inner corners of the eyes. This makeup wouldn’t look out of place at a summer music festival, just saying.
