How to get Margaret Qualley's signature berry lip for less
The best dupes for the actress' luxe lip combo
Much like the rest of the Internet, we're obsessed with the lip combinations of celebrities, influencers, and our friends too.
In October, we managed to stumble across Anna Paul's lip combo while we were doom scrolling through TikTok, and this week we used similar tactics on a different platform (ahem, Instagram) to finally nail down the products behind Margaret Qualley's signature raspberry lip.
With her dark hair, porcelain skin and baby blue peepers, Qualley is a great example of a celebrity with high contrast features and light eyes (yes, we're on contrast makeup TikTok).
According to the contrast makeup filter and trend's creator, French makeup artist Alieenor, finding the right lip colour is the key to creating a balanced makeup look for this contrast type, and she counts Margaret Qualley's signature raspberry lip as a great example of harmonious high contrast makeup.
"Just a bit of lipstick can [make] the world of difference," she said via TikTok. "You can have just one product — dab it on the lips, dab it on the cheeks, then blend it — and it's done."

Although we're sure Qualley is prone to using a lip and cheek duo day to day, when it comes to the red carpet, she leaves her lips in the hands of the professionals.
In fact, the artist responsible for her ethereal makeup at the recent Academy Museum Gala, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, shared via Instagram that she actually applied four products to achieve the final look.
Naturally, Yoshimoto Bua used some seriously luxe products on the actress for the special occasion, but that doesn't mean you have to splash a lot of cash in order to get a similar result at home.
BEAUTYcrew has taken the liberty of hunting down all the dupes you'll need to nail Margaret Qualley's lip combo for less. Plus, we'll guide you through the application process to ensure you achieve the desired outcome — a softly diffused, shimmering raspberry lip.
1/ Prep your pout with a nourishing lip treatment
Before she laid down any colour on Qualley's lips, Yoshimoto Bua applied a healthy layer of the Chanel Hydra Beauty Nutrition Nourishing Lip Care ($55 from MYER) to prep her pout. The camellia-infused lip treatment deeply nourishes, soothes, smooths and protects the lips from the elements.

If you're after a similar effect, but aren't willing to fork out $55 on a lip balm, that's completely reasonable. Here are some affordable K-Beauty alternatives that work just as well.
Petitfee Oil Blossom Lip Mask Camelia Seed Oil ($10.63 from Beauty Amora) contains camellia oil too, which hydrates, softens and protects the lips. But it also penetrates deeper to truly nourish, moisturise and promote youthful-looking lips.
The COSRX Balancium Ceramide Lip Butter Sleeping Mask ($21.52 from Yes Style) utilises a blend of richly moisturising botanical butters and oils to condition chapped lips.
While the Holika Holika Liplief Steaming Lip Mask ($11.45 from Yes Style) combines chemical exfoliators with hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil and shea butter, which creates a 'steaming' effect for a plump, soft, smooth and moisturised pout.
2/ Line the lips with a cool-toned, rose-nude lip liner
Rather than create a bold outline of colour using a dark lip liner, Yoshimoto Bua opted for the Chanel Le Crayon Lèvres Longwear Lip Pencil in 'Rose Naturel' ($55 from MYER). The rose-nude lip liner is close to Qualley's natural lip colour, but the cool undertones of the shade help to create a subtle shadow of lip contour that makes the lips look fuller, while still retaining a natural-looking finish.

To achieve a similar look, we suggest finding a shade that mirrors the 'your-lips-but-better' and subtle contouring properties of Chanel's 'Rose Naturel'.
We suggest trying the Flower Beauty Perfect Pout Sculpting Lip Liner in 'Taupe' ($12.99 from Chemist Warehouse), Revlon's ColorStay Lip Liner in 'Mauve' ($20.99 from Chemist Warehouse), or the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in '130 Dusty Rose' ($9 from Chemist Warehouse).
3/ Pat a satin finish raspberry lipstick onto the lips using your finger
This is the part of the makeup look where you'll start to use the back of your hand as a makeup palette, because we're working to build sheer layers of lip colour from here on out. The key to this look is to minimise any harsh lines of lip colour.
To mimic the same soft diffusion of Qualley's raspberry popsicle pout, you'll need to dispense your lip colour of choice onto the back of your hand. This will A) help to warm up the product and make it easier to blend out, and B) it will ensure you don't apply too much product to the lips.
Next, you'll need to pick the product up off the back of your hand using your finger and lightly dab it onto the lips, concentrating the colour at the point where your lips meet and blending outwards to create a blurred lip line. Yoshimoto Bua used the Chanel Rouge Allure L'Extrait High-Intensity Lip Colour in 'Rose Boréal' ($85 from MYER) on Qualley to acheive the look, but there are plenty of affordable options that will do the trick too.

If you like the 'Rose Boréal' shade, then we've hunted down a trio of doppelgängers in an array of formats to suit your needs.
There's the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Moisturising Lip Colour in 'Plum Berry' ($23.95 from Priceline) if you need a lip colour with longevity. Sephora Collection's About That Shine Sheer Shine Lipstick in 'Dark Aura' ($24 from Sephora) delivers a sheer wash of colour that's more suitable for daily wear, and Clinique's Pop Longwear Lipstick Matte in 'Rose Pop' ($46 from Clinique) is an innovative upgrade on traditional lipstick bullets.
4/ Apply a sheer layer of shimmering raspberry gloss or liquid lipstick using a lip brush
The cherry on top of this rather elaborate lip look is a feather-light layer of the Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Ultrawear Shine Liquid Lip Colour in 'Cristal Pink' ($72 from David Jones).
Again, Yoshimoto Bua applied the product to the back of her hand. But this time she picked up a minute amount of the liquid lipstick using a lip brush with short, tapered bristles and a domed profile. Then, the makeup artist used gentle pressure to buff a sheer layer of the lip product over the entirety of Qualley's pout.

The key to imitating Qualley's lip combo is to find a gloss or liquid lipstick with a shimmering, opaque raspberry finish. Personally, we recommend reaching for the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in 'Fuchsia Flex' ($36 from Sephora), Maybelline's SuperStay 24 2-Step Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick and Lip Balm in 'City Ablaze' ($27.19 from Amazon Australia), or L'Oréal Paris's Infallible 2-Step Liquid Lipstick in 'Raspberry For Life' ($18.99 from Chemist Warehouse) to get the job done.
