The genius hack you need to know if you wear liquid lipstick
The days of dry and uncomfortable lips may be over
Your days of dry and uncomfortable lips may be over
If you’re looking for a lip product that will last you from day to night, you can’t go past a liquid lipstick. Unfortunately however, due to their long-lasting nature some formulations have a tendency to leave lips looking and feeling dry, cracked and uncomfortable after a few hours of wear. If you’ve steered clear of liquid lipsticks because of this very issue or simply soldier on regardless and have constantly dry and sore lips as a result, then this lipstick hack from a Reddit user will come to your rescue.
In a Reddit thread titled Best/Worst of Liquid Lipsticks, a gem of a makeup hack was revealed. According to bethrevis, despite initially being a non-believer, using a lip primer “turned liquid lipsticks that were previously un-wearable due to dryness and cracking into my favourite lip [products].” She also shared her top picks for lip primers, which included Urban Decay Ozone Lip Primer and ColourPop’s Lippie Primer.
In response to bethrevis’ original post, numerous other Reddit users shared how effective using lip primers are, including one user, ohtheinsainty, who explained that rather than moisturising the lips, a lip primer applies “like a waxy lip pencil. On me it fills up lip lines and gives an even surface for lipstick to stick. What I really like it for is putting on the inner part of my bottom lip where I have a hard time getting lipstick to stick.”
One other primer that received the most recommendations throughout the thread was MAC Prep + Prime Lip. If you’re looking for more alternatives, we also recommend Too Faced Lip Insurance and Bite Beauty Line and Define Lip Primer.
