A dermal clinician shares how to get rid of a blind pimple overnight

Cleanse
Before diving into the following steps, make sure to cleanse your face thoroughly to remove any makeup or dirt. Try: CeraVe Blemish Cleanser ($17.99 at Chemist Warehouse).

Extract
If you’re not comfortable performing your own extractions, skip this step or head to a professional. Jayde performed her own (because she is qualified) using a sterilised pin and cotton buds.

Glycolic acid
Jayde’s next step for getting rid of a blind pimple fast is to apply a 5 per cent glycolic acid. However, if you have sensitive skin or want to start slow, try a 2 per cent or low dose salicylic acid. Use a cotton bud and apply it as a spot treatment, not all over the face. Jayde recommends: Pixi Glow Tonic ($44 at Sephora).

Retinol
The final step to kicking that blind pimple to the curb? Apply a retinol. Yep, really. Jayde says to “douse it”, which we take as applying like a concentrated spot treatment. Jayde recommends: Asap Super A+ ($110.10 at Adore Beauty).

Skip the pimple patch
If pimple patches have become your saviour for other spots, think again when it comes to blind pimples. “A pimple patch is good only for a whitehead because it’s a hydrocolloid bandage and it pulls the pus out,” Jayde explained.
