The $15 lipstick that completed Haley Lu Richardson’s SAG Awards glam
The SAG Awards are shaping up to deliver the best beauty looks of the awards season so far. From Zendaya’s old Hollywood glam (those doll lashes deserve their own award TBH) to Stephanie Hsu’s mermaidcore hair, the red carpet is tapping into all our favourite 2023 beauty trends and serving some major inspo.
The star of the show? Haley Lu Richardson’s glossy candy apple red lip. And as it turns out, the hero product is a tried-and-true drugstore lipstick. Yep, that’s right. The White Lotus star’s glam was all thanks to not one but two Maybelline New York Vinyl Ink Liquid Lip Colours.

Her MUA @jennakristina shared a few behind-the-scenes snaps of Richardson’s getting ready process, and we spied the cult-favourite liquid lipsticks in action. The artist then confirmed in the comments of her latest post that she combined the shades Wicked ($15.99 at Chemist Warehouse) and Red Hot (also $15.99 at Chemist Warehouse) in the centre of the lip to create a subtle red ombre.
In true Gen Z style, Richardson paired her bold lip moment with an effortless cloud skin glow and a slicked back Y2K-esque bun. And those fluffy brows? An ode to Portia (for the record, we’d kill for brows like that).
We never thought we’d be ones for layering lipstick, but this look has inspired us to give the ombre lip look a try.
Who knows, perhaps it will become one of our new favourite lip combinations…
